If you are in a large city with a lot of people you may need to start reserving your location, caterer, and photographer. If you do it ahead of time, you have more of a selection since everything isn`t booked yet. Most places will let you pay it out in payments with just $100 down to reserve the date, so it will give you much more time to pay it out and maybe keep your budget from being so tight.

The most important thing to take care of ASAP is booking the places where the ceremony and recepetion will be held. Places book QUICKLY, and you do not want to get stuck scrambling for an available date. If you book now, you will be comfortable choosing your own date instead of choosing a date based on availability. Also, keep in mind that May, June, and July are popular for weddings. As far as other things (photographer, dj, florist) call around to see who is available at what date, and ask how quickly they book. Some places require 6 months advance notice, others require much less. Hope this helps!!

I would say, reserve the location first. Reception site and ceremony site (church, etc.)

I am really interested in an outdoor wedding but they all seem so public and I won’t be in control of the surroundings. My favorite two prospects at the moment is a place at the beach overlooking the water or a lighthouse overlooking the beach and city skyline both of which I’m sure will book really quickly in LA. How do I accommodate for outside forces such as noise and onlookers?

Dear Nodia, unfortunately, at the places you have selected, you will probably be unable to control other people or noises. I would suggest trying to find a small park or plantation near you that can be reserved or rented; this way you can weed out anything you don`t want around. Many of these places also have buildings that can house the crowd should it start to rain. Beach weddings are beautiful, but in the end you will have to decie whether you want to use such an unpredictable location or whether controlling the elements is more important. Good luck!
