Common sense obviously has some anger issues, she was asking for help not criticism jerk. Anyway, try to exercise at least 5 times a week make 3 of those times a cardio work out, just eating right will do nothing if you don`t exercise. When I want to lose weight I try to stick with high protein items such as egg whites and fish as well as chicken. Try to stay away from starches such as pasta and sugar so if you drink drink soda try water instead. Just pay attention to what you eat. It is good to have a snack such as fruit in between meals if you get hungry so you don`t eat to much at meal time your portions should be small. Well that is about it good luck.

What about joining a club? I go to one that`s relatively cheap and it`s nice to be around others for motivation.
Set goals that are attainable. 80 pounds won`t work. How about walk 4 miles a day and shoot for 5 pounds a month? Something that you CAN do.

Kelly, although "Common Sense" is a mean-spirited b** and apparently has no regard for other peoples feelings since she insulted a complete stranger, her argument is valid. There is no "easy" fix for weight loss; I struggled with my weight for years before I got it under control. I tried diet pills, fad diets, and the like before I finally realized that I needed to change my lifestyle. Try putting yourself on a 1300 calorie diet; you would be surprised at how much you can still eat while cutting back. Also, walking is about the easiest and most effective form of exercise for weight loss; start out walking briskly for about 15 minutes every day. Then, as you feel more energetic, add five minutes to the 15 every week until you hit 30 minutes. I also found it helpful to drink lots of water because it makes you feel full, and if you still get the munchies, try a mild appetite suppressant. Bottom line is, there is no quick fix, but if you start now, you should be able to reach your goal more quickly than you think; plan to lose about 10 pounds a month; if you are getting married in the spring, you should be fine! Good Luck, Kelly!

I just read about eDiets.com. They customize a diet for you, send you weekly menus and grocery lists, and link you with other women who are in the same situation for moral support. I looked at the website, and it`s $3 per week, which is cheaper than many other plans. Good luck.

The secret of losing weight is NOT going on a diet. If you want to lose weight and keep it off, then you have to change your lifestyle. If you`re not willing to change your lifestyle for good, then you will always struggle with your weight problems.
Portion control is the first thing -- Americans eat portions that are 2-3 times what is recommended. Exercise is key -- if you don`t exercise you will have a difficult time shedding the pounds. Exercising will increase your metabolism so that you are burning calories more efficiently throughout the day and help build lean muscle tissue which in turn also burns more calories.
Try staying away from complex carbohydrates such as: bread, pasta, rice, and sugar (soda, candy, etc). Focus on eatting lean proteins: fish, chicken, turkey and veggies and fruit. If you can do this and exercise at the same time, then you will lose weight.
If you aren`t accustomed to working out, start off slow and work your way up. Don`t go into the gym thinking you need to bike 10 miles, stairclimb for 30 minutes, do the eliptical machine for 45, and then run 10 miles. Start off with 10 minutes on the bike, then walk for 20 minutes. Go slow so that you don`t get discouraged and quit. You`re body will adjust and soon you`ll be a cardio-junkie and able to workout for hours. Add in weight training after about a month.
Good luck and best wishes!

Actually, fast walking has worked the best for me and is a great way to lose weight try to fast walk 4-5 times a week and do not eat carbs after 5pm. I have done this and lost 12 ounds in the past 4 weeks. You don`t have to put yourself in a strict diet just eat in small amounts and not to much carbs. Remember no carbs at night.

I joined weight watchers and I have to say that it is the best! I had joined a gym, but I continued to GAIN weight because I did not change my eating habits. A month later, I joined WW and I have lost just over 10 pounds in just as many weeks. I know that it sounds like a slow process, and it is, but from what I hear from every single person that I know who`s tried it has kept the weight off. WW simply teaches you how to eat, so there are no taboo foods. You can still eat what you want, you just have to keep track of it and learn to manage your quantity. Good luck with the weight loss and your upcoming wedding!

I gained a lot of weight with my birth control and though I haven`t taken it in over 4 yrs I have not been able to get it off and keep it off, it has nothing to do with the amount of food I eat, because I do not eat often and am cautious about what I eat.
Since I am going into the Air Force soon, I really have to be careful due to weight restrictions. Military.com has a great workout schedule. It is kind of tricky to find but if you want it I would be glad to post it on here.
It starts you off really slow and builds you up weekly

Try cutting on carbs and sugar, the hardest will be the first 2 weeks, it takes two weeks for your body to stop craving what is used to eating and it will crave sugar like crazy for the first two weeks, you won`t want it after. Snack protein eat veggies, salads and proteins, if you eat carbs eat small amount and eat it before 5pm. Walk at least 4 times a week fast walking is better and more effective. I was a chocoholic and i do not crave any sweets at all and by cutting sugar and lowering my grams of carbs daily i have lost weight. Good luck

The thought of trying to lose weight is a tough one to tackle. Weight is completely a mind thing. We would all like to be smaller then what we are but sometimes it just doesn`t happen. Like a previous comment, I too gained weight (30+ pounds) from my birth control. I hadn`t changed anything in my eating or exercising habits but the weight kept coming. I thought about crash diets and pills but I like food too much. So, I just started watching what I ate, drank lots of water and skim milk in place of pop and sugared drinks and also, don`t laugh, put diet soda in as mix in my drinks. Some ways I took the weight off were:
1. I am a big advocate for milk and how necessary it is. The general rule is 24 ounces for every 24 hours. Substitute skim or 1% milk in place of whole milk. And, if you drink coffee or tea, try putting milk in them instead of cream.
2. Eat three solid meals a day. Try to have lunch as your biggest. It`s a little tough if you are working but try to get your main meal in throughout the day. Or, try the five meals a day - some people swear by this.
3. If you do work, try to go for a walk on your lunch-hour. Ask a co-worker to go with you.
4. Get an aerobic DVD or video. I`ve kicked my FH out of the house a few times so that I could move my un-coordinated body to a 30 minute video. I love the Reebok step videos (it even has a countdown timer in the corner so you know how much time is left)
5. Weigh yourself once a week and keep a log of this. I do this but I will put at least 5 pounds on the week of my period. Also, once a month measure you bust, waist and hips. Seeing the numbers week by week and monthly will motivate you.
Anyhow, I hate to exercise and eat properly. However, I hate not fitting into my clothes even more. You may be trying to lose weight for your wedding but set your goal for 2 to 3 months before the wedding date. The pressure and stress will be enough after then without stressing out over having to lose those last 10 pounds.
Good luck...I`m know you will be a beautiful bride!!!!

As others have mentioned, portion control, making healthier choices, and exercising, are definitely the way to go. To give your weight loss an extra boost make sure you get lots of calcium. Many studies have shown that calcium intake for some odd reason increases weightloss, more specifically helping you to burn more fat. (Plus you get the added benefit of protecting your bones and preventing osteoporosis) The other thing is to not only get a cardio workout, but to pair that with strength (weight) training. Studies have shown that the addition of strength training to an exercise routine jumpstarts your metabolism so that you burn more fat, plus it will help to tone and sculpt your body which is always a plus. I too need to lose a substantial amount of weight (not b/c of my wedding but b/c i know i`m just not healthy where i`m at). I`ve already lost about 15 pounds and a bunch of inches and I`ve found that what really works best is to focus on getting and being healthy and rather than thinking of what i`m eating as a diet I look at it as choices, everytime i eat something i am making a choice and i ask myself is it a healthy choice, is there an alternative that will make a better choice. Also give into your cravings, if you crave something sweet have something sweet, just choose a healthy option such as fruit or a granola bar (my favorite is the smores granola bar, it fulfills my chocolate cravings but is still a healthy choice). And also, allow yourself to splurge responsibly (portion control) and don`t feel guilty if you mess up, just tell yourself you made a poor choice and next time make a better choice. Good luck!
