Make My Own Veil?

Hello everyone:

I haven`t yet found my dress, and haven`t even started to look at veils and headpieces yet. But I visited a craft store this afternoon, where there were materials that you could use to make your own veil. So I started thinking...I mentioned the idea to a girl I work with, and she said that she had made her own and would be delighted to help me.

I have some questions here. First, can a beautiful piece actually be made inexpensively? I`ve read that glue is a bad idea, as it yellows as it ages, but I`m not a sewing person. What do you all think? Has anyone out there successfully made their own veil?
