Birth Control Ideas?

Hey there. Has anyone been on Alesse? My freind said that you can take it without the sugar pills so you don`t get a period and it`s good for you because it`s a low dose. Has anyone done this method?

Yes, you certainly can take the birth control pills without the sugar pills in order to skip a period. There are a few caveats: 1. If you are doing it for the first time, you may have some breakthrough bleeding 2. You will run out of pills faster than your prescription (Of course!), so get your prescribing doctor on board 3. You may actually mess up your ovulation, making you exposed to pregnancy--this is just theoretical, not a fact. 4. If you have a strong family history of breast cancer, this may not be a good idea. All that aside, it is most certainly OK to do this for one or two months so that you can have your wedding and honeymoon without a period!
On a personal note, I have done this intermittantly for months at a time for years. I have never gotten pregnant, and never had any side effects except enjoyable months without a period. It theoretically can decrease your risk of ovarian cancer, which is thought to be caused by incessant ovulation. As with anything, consult with your doctor about this plan, but if he/she tells you that you can`t or you shouldn`t, I recommend finding a doctor who is more up on the literature. Good Luck!
