Dollar Dance

I am trying to choose a song for our dollar dance. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

The dollar dance is rude and tacky. How dare you invite people to attend your wedding and then allow them to line up and pay to dance with you. How rude and low-class.

Manners, you obviously are culturally ignorant. The dollar dance is done at almost all Polish weddings - in fact, its expected and the guests are somewhat disappointed if the bride and groom don`t have the Dollar Dance. I think asking for money is tacky yes, but the Dollar Dance is something that is considered fun for the guests and is often a cultural expectation for the newlywed couple.

I am from the south, and have personally attended more than 20 weddings. At each and every one of them, there has been a money dance. From my experience, I assumed the money dance was a tradition and have never heard of it being frowned upon by anyone. No one is forced to "line up," but rather it is a personal choice. It also serves the purpose of everyone getting a chance to dance with bride/groom since they are so busy greeting everyone during the wedding. I have seen little nephews and cousins proudly offer the bride a dollar and beam as they dance with her:) As for what kind of song, I have usually witnessed two songs....One being slow, the next being fast. This gives the guests the option of which dance is best suited for them. Typically, the money dance goes on for more than one song because there is almost always a long line of guests waiting to dance.....Congrats on your engagement, and best wishes for your wedding day.

It`s a dollar, for crying out loud. I live in Polock central, and while we don`t do dollar dances around here, I can relate to the topic in that having an OPEN bar is almost unheard of, unless it`s just for the first hour. Cash bars are the rule, and are not considered cheap in the least. So just accept the fact that the dollar dance is done and help the poor woman pick a song.

How about that song "cent, 5 cents, 10 cents, dollar, dollar, dollar" It`s a calypso song - would be hilarious and fun!
