WEDDING SHOWER ??????

I HAVE A QUESTION ABOUT WEDDING SHOWERS ?? WE HAVE BEEN INVITED TO ONE . BY THE GROOMS MOTHER. IT IS TO HELD AT OUR CHURCH AND WE ARE TO BRING FOOD (LIKE A POT LUCK)( his mother is a member of our church but the bride and groom arent , so we dont know them, )WE WERE TOLD WHEN THE SHOWER WOULD BE BY HER AND WHERE THEY ARE REGISTERED AT, WHEN I ASKED WHEN THE INVITATION FOR THE WEDDING WOULD ARRIVE (SO I COULD SEND MY GIFT FOR THE RECEPTION) I WAS INFORMED WE WERE NOT INVITED TO THE BRIDAL SHOWER, THE WEDDING OR THE RECEPTION, (ALL HELD IN THE BRIDES HOME TOWN , AMI WRONG TO FEEL INSULTED??? MOST OF THE PEOPLE INVITED TO THE CHURCH WEDDING SHOWER ARE ALSO NOT INVITED . TO THE OTHER EVENTS.. IS THIS SOMETHING NEW ??
THANKS FOR ANY ADVICE OR COMMENTS....

Let me get this straight. You don`t know the bride and groom. You`re not invited to the wedding. But you are "invited" to attend a shower that the groom`s mother is "hosting", for which you must provide the food and a gift?

HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

I`m sorry, but that gave me a huge laugh. Seriously, she sounds like a greedy gift pig. Rude and tacky! I would send my regrets and never even give it a second thought.

If you aren`t invited to the wedding, then there is no need to buy a gift or attend the shower either. So don`t worry about it. Save your money and time, and don`t bother with a gift.

I also would not go and infact encourage the others in the same situation to decline as well. That is unbelievably rude and greedy. I would be insulted too.
