Suggestions For Gifts For Son And Wife
I`d like some idea as to what people consider appropriate as far as a monetary wedding gift to a son and his new wife. I realize that the actual dollar amount is an individuial decision but I have no idea what is considered `typical`. The reason I ask is that I feel I have to be somewhat consistent in the future for my other childrens` wedding gifts. This will be my first of six children to get married. ALL of my children will be in the wedding party for this event.

Personally, I wouldn`t necessarily give cash. Because, as in your case, you will feel obligated to give each child the same amount of money. If the weddings are far a part you may not even remember how much you gave the other.
Also, since you are the mother of the groom, you might want to get a more thoughtfull or personal gift. You could start them a hope chest or chip in on the honeymoon. Give them something that is an indulgence for them!

My parents purchased each of their children a bedroom suite. It was very thoughtful and we still have it. The price range was the same for all the children as they also wanted to keep things equal. I would never concider selling it, as it is very sentimental. I much prefer that over cash.
