An Ex Employee Speaks Out
Well...I have read the complaints and I can tell you first hand that everything that customers experience at David`s Bridal is true. I can agree because I USED to work there! I have had several customers come in the store to pickup items and find that the items were missing or not ordered, layaways that were missplaced, items that customers ordered from other stores were shipped from other stores to our store ruined beyond repair, alterations that were not done properly, missing paperwork and files and customers that were treated with no respect by most of the employees. I could keep going but if I did I would never end this message.
David`s Bridal has no networked computer system (I was told that they were working on it) so most records were kept on paper. All customers registered on paper forms and it was the bridal consultants and/or the customer service reps job to file away the paperwork. Nothing got logged into a computer file and this made it really hard for brides who had out-of-town attendants in her wedding to be serviced by another David`s Bridal. I think this is the real root to all of the problems David`s experiences.
The other problems stem from poor management, conflicting rules, and dishonest employees. The working environment was unpleasant, especially on busy days such as Saturdays. Rarely were employees able to take lunch breaks because management kept pushing bride after bride on overworked consultants. But, management would take hour long breaks while we worked nearly 9 hours without a break at all. It is ironic because in every meeting management would preach that we should help one customer at a time. Very seldom would a manager even offer to assist customers...they would just pawn them off on any consultant or just let them wait. There is lots of employee turnaround...one day a lady was hired and on her first day of employment she quit after her shift was over!
This a no way to run a business and David`s Bridal should re-evaluate its operating standards and restructure its policies.

Went to two David`s Bridal stores and was completely satisfied with the customer service.
