Tacky?

Is it tacky to have people RSVP by phone or e-mail, rather than including a response card in the invitation? I`ve been invited to a couple of weddings now where the only way to respond was by phone or e-mail, and I am thinking of doing the same. It`s cheaper, and my wedding isn`t ultra-formal anyway. What do you think?

I think it is great. People did it long ago before some person owning a wedding invite place decided that to make more money they would start making response cards and charging for them, thus making it less personal.
