Mass/Service

I`ve been to some where mariachis play some or all the music for the church service. If you don`t like mariachis, you could have someone sing a song (like Ave Maria or another church type song) during the service if the priest/pastor OKs it. We are Christian, but not Catholic...and at our daughter`s quince church service, we had our daughter`s baptismal godmother light a big quinceanera candle. She handed it to my daughter after saying "Let your light so shine before others that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. Amen." Then she walked with her as my daughter put it on the altar. There were 3 Bible passages read during the service--one by my husband, then me, then my sister (the godmother). During Holy Communion at her quince service, the pastor let her hold the wine chalice that people dip their communion wafer in so she said "Blood of Christ shed for thee," to everyone who came up for communion. That`s about all I can think of. You would have to talk to your priest/pastor to see what he allows at your church, but remember this is the time when you are dedicating your life to him and it is a serious religious service not the party.

Yeah . . . Get into it. The Mass is never boring if you get it. Learn about the real traditions, enculturate yourself. Its all about your state-of-heart. Remember: Its not all about you. Its a celebration of Thanksgiving to God, groeing up and taking responsibility. Don`t have one if you`re gonna totally miss the point
