Reception Help!!
I need help with my reception. Particularly with favors & centerpieces. We are having a very casual BBQ-style reception, which is going to take place a week after the (destination) ceremony. (I know, BBQ, but it was my fiancee`s only request). Anyway, I am not sure if I should do centerpieces & traditional favors or not, and if so, what should I do? Thanks for any help.

My advice would be to decide on a theme for your wedding, and decide on what kind of atmosphere you want, and how much money you want to spend.

Since your theme is a BBQ I don`t think it`s necessary to do favors. For centerpieces you could do something inexpensive and simple --- floating candles with a wreath of some sort around the base.

The main thing I want is for everyone to be comfortable. I have been to too many weddings where everybody is on edge and that is the last thing I want. It is going to be very small with only close friends and family. I`m not sure about theme. I considered a July 4th theme to go with the BBQ (reception is July 10), but I`m not really into the whole patriotic red, white, and blue thing. I have been considering a "summer picnic" theme, but I`m not sure how that will work indoors. (We are having the reception at my fiancee`s restaurant and he`s particular about having food outside.) Money is not really a huge issue, but I also don`t want to put a lot into something that will just be thrown away, either. Thanks for helping me get started with what I need to concentrate on.

You can`t ever go wrong with flowers and candles. Do gorgeous arrangements on each table. You can make them as colorful (or not) as you want, as elaborate or as simple as you want, or as casual or as formal as you like. For a summer picnic theme and a bbq maybe arrangments of wild flowers flowing out of pretty baskets would be an idea. To fancy it up for evening use mirrors underneat with tea lights all around.
