ASKING FOR MONEY AS GIFTS

I got married 2 weeks ago.I told my family and any one who asked what we wanted,that we had every thing we needed so money would be fine as a present.We also had a wishing well.No one got offended,and every one came to our wedding.we received a lot of beautiful cards and money in them.we also received other beautiful gifts from people who did`nt ask.SO IT`S O.K TO ASK FAMILY &FRIENDS FOR MONEY AS WEDDING GIFTS.I JUST DON`T BELIEVE IT SOULD BE PUT ON THE INVITATIONS.
