He could wear the suit, but take off the jacket during the reception and just wear his shirt and tie. No need to be too formal, if the weather is hot.

I saw a wedding in Hawaii where the groom and his guys wore really nice Tommy Bahama shirts and black pants. The groom wore a solid blue shirt and the groomsmen wore shirts with a pattern but that same blue as the main color in the shirts. The bridesmaids all wore dress in a similar color. I thought it was amazing. The bride was wearing a sheath type dress. The wedding looked like it was so fun and loving. They were surrounded by their favorite people in an amazing place. One thing for sure, they all looked comfortable while being very fashionable.
