Halloween Wedding
My daughter is planning a Halloween wedding on 10/30/04.
She is looking for ideas on decorating the reception hall and other Halloween ideas.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Black and orange for the wedding colors? Decorate the reception area with pumpkins in different colors, or perhaps carved pumpkins. Some catering companies do fruit carvings, I`m sure they would carve the jack o lanterns for you. You have dim lights and lots of candles everywhere for a spooky effect.

This is something I saw on "A Wedding Story" (TLC) a few years ago:
The couple sent out haloween-theme invitiations for an evening 10/31 wedding and asked that the guests arrive in costume. The food was typical "haloween feast" food with special attention to the sweets (haloween candy, candied apples, etc) The reception site was deceorated with jack-o-lanterns, witches, etc. There were also "traditional haloween games" (bobbing for apples, etc) It looked like fun.
Also, while I was looking for a cake topper, I came across a pewter "Jack Skeleton" and "Sandy" figurine topper from "nighmare Before Christmas". I fell in love with it, but it unfortunately doesn`t coincide with my July wedding. Anyway, I saw it on ebay, but I`m sure you could search for it on google if you`re interested in checking it out. Good Luck!

If you are looking to keep it traditional with a Haloween Accent you could play up Autumn colors. Use deep reds, oranges, yellows and greens. You could provide masks for guests as a favor or champagne flutes filled with candy corns.
Have fun!!

There was an issue of Mary Englebriet`s Home Companion a few years back that had ideas for a "grown-ups" Halloween party that looked so elegant and cool. I`m actually planning on using some of the ideas for my fall-themed wedding, like spice-scented candles and gourds painted to look like swans. I can`t remember what year it was but if I find that issue I`ll post the year and maybe you can find a back copy. The whole theme was more autumn/mysterious than out-and-out Halloween, I don`t know exactly what kind of style your daughter wants but it might be worth a look.
