Red Wedding Dress Debate

My grandmother says I will be a disgrace to the family if I wear a red wedding dress but the dress I want is gorgeous. I love the Makayla by Maggie Sottero in red.
My grandmother hates the idea of red so much she may not come... Any thoughts.

Ack, toughy.

Honestly, White wedding dresses didn`t come into style until the Victorian Era. (When Queen Victoria got married in a silver dress, marrying in white became all the rage). In fact, in France, it used to be considered very bad luck to be married in white. (Marie Antoniate (sp?) chose white instead of the customary red, and look what happened to her!)

Honestly, a lot of cultures still embrace red as a wedding colour. I`m having a chinese wedding, and will be wearing red for it! The part of the rhyme `Marry in red, you`re better off dead` is silly. :P Especially in China, where red is a symbol of good luck and happiness!

The thing to remember, this is YOUR wedding, not your grandmother`s wedding! Do what YOU want to do! Families need to realize that throwing fits don`t help ANYONE in planning a wedding. If she doesn`t come, it`s her own selfishness...but hopefully she`ll understand...

Good luck!

How horrible. I`m so sorry.. My sister is upset that my dress is short.. I say you wear the dress that is probably your personality. For your day! invite your grammy if she doesn`t show, send her over the edge and tell her you had sex before marriage.
