I was searching the web for companys that sell bridal trims and laces, as I am designing and making my daughters wedding gown. I cameacross this web page, with all the complaints about David`s bridal.
I am a professional tailor seamstress and I work for a well know store and I specialize in bridal alterations. I have been to David`s bridals and have altered many gowns from girls who purchased their gowns there. They also were very disatisifed with David`s. All I can tell you young ladies is to look around if you plan to purchase your gowns. Some of the smaller shops have beautiful gowns and better service. As for alterations. You don`t have to have your gown altered at the particular store you purchase it from. You can take it to anyone and have it altered. I save my customers a great deal of money on their bridal alterations and in the 25 yrs. I have been altering, I have never had anyone disatisfied with their gowns. Just check around with some of the dept. Stores who have alteration depts. Many of these ladies who have been around for yrs.do sewing on the side and do beautiful work for a great deal less. Always make sure to get references from both the store and customers who have had work done by them. My daughters have been lucky, because I have 4 daughters and I designed and made all of their gowns. They didn`t have to go thru the terrible experiences someof you have gone thru. I have altered hundreds of gowns over the years and most of my brides have commented how the bridal shops charge high prices on alterations. Bridal gowns do take expertise to alter, and their are few of us around who can do this work. Take time to check out the people who will alter your gown.
