Wedding Favors

What about not having wedding favors? Is that horrible? It just seems like a lot of work and money for something most people will throw away or forget!? Has anyone not done wedding favors or will I be the only one!?

If its chocolate, people will probably not throw it out.

Renee, don`t feel bad -- I got married last December and didn`t do favors. I`ve been to countless weddings where 80% of the favors are left at the table or thrown away. People are much more interested in the food served and the selection of beverages than if a chunk of chocolate or some package of seeds is sitting next to their plate.

I personally don`t think they are necessary and most people don`t notice if you don`t do them.

Some people may think you should be thanking your guests for coming by giving them a `favor/gift`...well, I think hosts and hostess are thanking their guests enough with free dinner, free beverages and liquor, and free entertainment all night.

Best wishes to you!

Favors do not have to be expensive at all. Try small tulle-wrapped bags of candied almonds. Or hershey kisses. Some people get their names and wedding date printed on matchbooks, to give out to guests. Of course if you don`t want to have favors, probably no one will notice that much.
