April, do you know someone who likes to cook? A friend or relative might do it for free, as long as you buy all the food. The place where we had our reception allowed us to bring any food in that we wanted. However, you would need to get those metal pans with the burners underneath them to keep the food warm. Not sure where to find those. Also, you might look at different catering companies in the yellow pages - call all of them and get price quotes.

Also, whatever you do, don`t use Jason`s Deli for catering. They forget their orders and don`t show up when scheduled to. I have had some really bad disasters with Jason`s Deli when planning corporate functions, so I quit using them.

You could do different types of pastas and sauces, garlic bread and salad.
Hope this helps!

Also look to Cash` N Carries if you buy the food, they usually have good prices on bulk as well as any thing else a restaurant would use. Good luck

Another inexpensive meal to plan is a taco bar. I went to a wedding awhile back and she had salsa and chips hard tacos, soft tacos, refried beans. I know it was fairly inexpensive and she had 175 people. You could even make all that ahead of time and it would heat up nicely.

There are lots of ways you could make it work without spending alot of money. I would need a bit more information, such as where the wedding is taking place and the time of year.

We are having our wedding at a hall in Maryland. The wedding will take place at night. Well at 5 p.m

My soon to be hubby and his family are simple eaters. They would be just fine with ham and pototes. Unlike me, i would at lease like stuff chicken or something..

I beleive we could do it ourself but i think it would be alot of work for 100-130 ppl.

What do you think?

For NY it`s the place to go to find independent caterers and those just starting out, so the rates are cheaper.
Go to the grocery stores that have chefs/cooks making prepared foods, like at Whole Foods. Talk to that cook in person and see if he`d like to earn a bit of cash on the side, or at least guide you. S/he may even help you with a few dishes from the store he works at.
Look in the classified section of the paper for cooks. Ask everyone you know, especially at the church, if anyone has done catering for that many people.
If you have never done this do not attempt for your wedding, you will be overwhelmed.
You can also do a potluck for the wedding--
Good luck!
