Question About Flowers

I really love carnations, I think they are beautiful. A lot of wedding florists don`t use them that much, though, there seems to be some sort of prejudice against this flower because it is equated with being "cheap" (it is lower-cost ,of course than orchids or something like that). So would this be a good wedding flower anyway...or a bad one? Opinions please. I don`t think they look cheap at all...unless they are covered in glitter or something like that. (I have seen carnations w/glitter sprinkled on them)

If carnations is what you want to use, then by all means use them. This is your wedding and there is no rule on what type or color flower you need to use. If you heart is set on carnations then i say go for it. But thats just my opinion.

Angelique,
I am having Gerbera Daisies, and some people have said they look kind of cheap, but they are truely what I want. I am a very casual person and I don`t want the "traditional" bouquet. The carnations will be lovely.

Sabrina,
My bouquet is having 3 tones of pink, light to dark (9 gerbs in total). My bridesmaid dresses are Champagne so they are going to have either the medium or dark pink for theirs (they will have 6 gerbs). The stems will wrapped with ribbon and the ends are going to be left open so you will see the green stems at the bottom. My flower girl is going to carry a daisy ball. She will have pink and white little daisies in hers. I love it.

If you love carnations then your wedding should have them! Don`t worry what people think of the flowers - if you like them that is all that matters.

There are all kinds of fads that go around and around and around. In fact, I have some people asking me to create the 1920`s style of large cascading bouquets for them. My opinion is for you to work with the flowers that will make you happy (and I will work with any flower for my brides when I arrange their flowers). If that is carnations, then go for it! Carns look great clumped by themselves like a cloud formation, and they look great with other flowers too, like lisianthus, roses, freesia, scabiosa, etc. Take care and good luck on your wedding!
