Young Couple With No Money!! Please Help!
My fiance and I are both very young- he is in the military and 21, and I am an 18 year-old full time sophomore in college. Needless to say, we have NO MONEY! Our parents will help, but his don`t have much money to spare (4 kids left in the house!) and mine are spending all of thier money on my education. I need some cost-cutting ideas for a simple, but elegant daytime wedding next May. I don`t even know where to start! How much are churches? Reception sites? Do we HAVE to have a meal catered? Or could we just do snacks (and fancy them up a bit, of course)? I don`t know anything about planning a wedding, and his parents and mine both eloped! (Which is a possibility that we are not ruling out!) Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!

Lauren,
You do not have to spend a huge amount on a wedding to make it beautiful! Trust me I am in your shoes. First think of how you always dreamed of doing it! You can even e-mail it to me, and we can brainstorm about it ( meggermoe83@yahoo.com) but don`t pass up your dream this is your day!!!!!! But there is a TON of ways to save money!!! I am planning my wedding in August and have come to find out a few tricks! Even basic things........
Where are you located?
You are a college student right? Do you know or can you find a graphic designer/art student? Even ask a professor who he could recommend. Have them design you own invitations....Do NOT pay the tremendous amount for the invitations through companies once they are designed there are a lot of printing/packaging options I would be more than happy to tell you about!
Photographer-same lines.....find a photography student, or even an amateur photographer, ask around you would be surprised who is sitting behind a desk pushing a pencil, but has a niche or passion for photography! Even if you are unsure ask to see some of their work trust me they will be more than happy to brag for themselves! If you find a student it could even be used for a project $ saver there!! Ask if you can purchase the film, and you pay them for developing only.
Flowers-try to find a local market (like an open air) or even a grocer that carries nice flowers.......have them order “your flower” make your own bouquets!
Do you want a indoor/outdoor or what time of day. I have lots of thoughts on food options, that would still be very elegant or fun!
Lauren I have had so much fun planning my wedding so far, and am learning how to do sooooo much my self! Don`t hesitate to e-mail me! I would love to help!!! These are just a few ideas!
Good Luck & Congratulation!!!

The biggest costs of wedding is usually the alcohol that is served at the reception. If you cut out the alcoholic beverages, this would save quite a bit. Also, if you borrowed a friend`s wedding gown, this would save anywhere from $100 to $1500, as most wedding gowns these days cost in that price range.
