GANGSTER WEDDING THEME

Hello,

I am interested in having a 'ganster/mobster' theme wedding with the pin stripe suits and all. We are not interested in having a church wedding, rather we would like to create our own little setting on a nice piece of land. Do you have any suggestions as to what to wear for the bride and groom as well as the bridesmaids and groomsmen? Secondly, do you have any suggestions as to what the fashion and setting was like back then? What could we design that would resemble the 'ganster/mobster' era? (what year is it anyway~the 40's???)

Any suggestions are welcome and we would appreciate it greatly!!

I know its realy hard tring to plan wedding, as im doing the same, so I went looking for you. I belive its the 20,s that they were around, but you could have the guys in zoot suits, and the girls in flapper dresses. They also could wear a garder, and get mini aquirt guns for them to put in the garder. Then buy biger play guns so that i guys could hold them up as both of you leave the church. If you need anymore help you can email me at Sabborrage@earthlink.net

My daughter and her boyfriend are interested in gangster clothing for their senior prom. I am having problems finding an authentic style dress pattern from that era. Also, where can they rent the pin stripped suits. We are in Wisconsin. Any suggestions would be apprciated.

I really think that a gangster theme sends out a negative message.

Ok, let`s rephrase that........I am looking for authentic looking 1920`s style clothing for a prom. The pinstripe zuit suits, 20`s style evening dresses, things like that. The kids want to do something different from the normal prom dresses and tuxes that everyone else will be wearing. I think it is a neat idea and shows they are not afraid to be a little different from the ordinary. They are being creative in their choices.

What is so negative about having a fascination with a certain era? Stop thinking so negatively.

Your idea is great!! My soon to be husband is also looking for a gangster suit for our wedding. I love when people think outside the box and not stick with the same old traditional ideas everyone else has or think is right. You go girl!! By the way, if you find a suit for your husband let me know because we`re having a hard time trying to find one.

Desmonds has black and white pinstripe suit/tuxes that we are using for our "1920`s" theme wedding. The groomsmen and the groom are wearing th cutaway style which was popular for weddings in that time, and the ushers are wearing the pinstrips suits and fedora hats. =) I am in Wisconsin also and the rentals were cheap at Desmonds.

My daughter`s boyfriend found a "zuit tux" thru Du Bois Formalwear. You can find a picture of it on the internet. It was black with a white shirt and tie. He had the long gold chain leading to a pocket watch. The hat had a white band on it with a small red feather on the side. He had a cane and black and white shoes. She wore a red corset style two piece dress that I made. They both looked spectacular.

The "zoot suit" style clothing IS historically gangster. I don`t think it`s negative, it`s an important part of Hispanic heritage.

And the zoot suits are from the 1940`s, thats how we got started with our 40s theme wedding.

Iif you do any web search on zoot suit you can find a lot of history or go to elpachuco.com, it`s the best place for zoot suits and pachuco is what the gangsters called themselves.

You can get a zoot suit for a little over a hundred bucks on ebay. Me and my fiance are planning a gansta theme wedding also! He got a baby blue pinstripe zoot suit, now we need to find a hat and some stacy adams shoes!

My wedding is also going to be gangsta themed. I`m having a little trouble finding him a suit though. He said he wants a baby blue pin stripped suit and when i saw your "ad" it amazed me. Where did you get your fiance`s suit"?? i know you asked for advice but now i need some too. The only advice i can give you is to rent an oldschool car and ask around for some. My dad says he plans on having me a little carpool of bombs. Sounds good to me so i figured i would share it with you. Good luck with your wedding.

I want a gangster wedding also.... Weddings should be fun, romantic and personal. If you don`t put your own sense of style and originality into the wedding... How are you going to put it into the marriage??? Don`t let anyone say it "sends a negative message" ... That would be like us saying a "NORMAL" wedding is... Plain, Boring and very Un-Original! :) HA! HA!

I`m getting married next year and we want a "Goodfellas" theme to our wedding. Does anyone have any ideas on wedding dresses? I want it to be a little elegant but with a goodfellas ganster twist.

Umm, It`s not really to big in Hispacic heritage more Italian, I don`t think any Italian family in there right mind would have worked with any hispcics, at least not my family.

Anyone saying anything that is negative should just stop.
This is about someone else’s wedding.
If you don`t like it no one cares!!!!
Your not invited to their wedding anyway!

So, I am having a 1940`s Mobster theme wedding too!
I need some ideas regarding centerpieces, overall decorations and favors!
The colors are black and white but I am using dark red and fuchsia roses scattered all over the reception to add in color.

Any positive suggestions are welcome!!!!!!!!!
