Save The Date
Does anyone know the exact procedures for Save the Date cards? When should they be mailed out? Should one be sent to ALL guests? Should a phone number be included for questions that might arise? Is it OK to make your own? Etc etc etc...Thanks for the help! Amber

I`ve seen save the dates sent out in a variety of forms -- including self-made ones. Typically they are sent out 9-12 months in advance, especially if the wedding date is around a busy time (ie, Xmas, 4th of July, etc).
I received a cute one the other day that the couple made themselves with a picture of them on it with information regarding the date, time, and place. I don`t recall a phone number being on the mailing, but I suppose one could add it to the form.
Good Luck!

I could be wrong here but, the way I have always heard it done is you can send the save the dates to everyone but, usually they are sent to all the out of town guests so that they have enough time to plan and save money if need be, request vacation time etc etc....

We just sent out our save the dates this week and our wedding is thanksgiving weekend. I think if you have a lot of out of town guests or if your date is around a holiday it is good to send these as early as possible (9-6 months before) We made ours by buying blank single sheet cards, typning the words "we`re tying the knot, and our names, the date, and where it will be, and then I bought some pretty ribbon that coordinated with our colors and punched a hole and tied a knot with it. All of this only cost about 40 bucks for 100 cards.

We got married Thanksgiving Weekend 2003. My Mom had stood us in front of a red leaved bush the fall before (in anticipation)and took our picture.(We had a fall themed wedding). We sent out save the date magnets in April. We had many out of towners coming, but sent to everyone, because that weekend is always so busy for everyone! We made our own, using business cards that I printed on a card program. We scanned the picture of us.Then printed our names followed by....
As autumn leaves turn their brillant hue two hearts will join and say "I do" Followed by the date and then SAVE THE DATE! Then I bought business card size magnets at Office Max and attached them. Everyone loved them. Some of our guests still have them on their fridges now! Good Luck!
