I just wanted to let everyone know that I too am having a bad experience with David`s Bridal. I see that the last posting was in 2003. So I hope Brides out there see that this problem is not solved, and David`s is still making a stressful time, planning a wedding, more stressful.
I originally started looking at wedding dresses at D.B. I had an appointment for 11:00am. The rude sales person did not tend to my until 11:45am. She quickly gathered some dresses and put me in a dressing room. I waited about 10 minutes, and then asked my sister if she saw the sales person. She said no. I came out of the fitting room to ask another sales person where this women was. I was told that she went to lunch and if I wanted assistance I would have to come back in an hour. I walked out of the store. I ended up getting my dress a small dress shop, Gowns by Louise. The serivce was great. The prices were about the same. But the service was excellent. All I can tell all of you Brides is the service you receive in a small shop makes you feel important, less stress.
It continues. My bridesmaids wanted to get their dresses at David`s Bridal. So we went. Again, the staff was extremely rude. They did take the order for the girls dresses.
Now heres the problem. The dresses came in. One girl had two bottoms and one top, which was the wrong size. Another girl had a junior brides maid size 14, she was sized for a adult 14, and no bottom. One fit perfect. My sisters was missed size. The Junior brides maid, who had a different style dress was sized wrong, and apparently should have been placed in an adult size. I asked for the manager, who assured me she would straighten everything out. I demanded to have the girls measured, instead of this guessing. I was told that they don`t measure. They put sizes on the person and guess what size to order based on how the size the person has on fits. At this point I walked away and let my sister handle it.
Buy the way, I called yesterday to see how the re-ordering was coming (my wedding is in 3 months). They forgot to reorder everything. It has been 1 1/2 months since they were supposed to take care of this. They said the dresses will take two months to order, which is cuting it close to the wedding.
Every employee that I have encountered has been so RUDE, I can`t even put it in words.
DON`T USE DAVID`S BRIDAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I too am having a bad experience with Davids Bridal. I live near Houston and one shop treated me like dirt. I could barely get the lady to help me and she rushed me and stood there with her arms crossed anytime I would even take a moment to look at the dress on. I tried to write a letter of complaint but could not find the card with her name. At the next Davids Bridal in Houston I also was treated with the same "rush" and when i decided to continue looking at other bridal shops the women who helped me became upset because i wasnt buying immediately.

Can you let me know of the location of the davids bridal you went to in Houston. I am a houston bride and I am looking for a dress, and I want to avoid the one that you went to. Much thanks! Oh by the way....where did you end up buying your dress? And was the staff helpful/courtious? thank you. AnnMarie

I recently bought my wedding gown from David`s bridal in Rockville MD and was happy with the service. I also went on a week day. My only complaint is that they always want a sales person to help, I`d rather be on my own until I pick a gown.

I just want to comment on my David`s Bridal experience. I live in the Los Angeles area and I bought my wedding dress there and the service was OK. She couldn`t find any of the dresses I had marked in the catalog so she picked similar ones, when I didn`t like those she took me around to grab others that I liked. The last one we grabbed was the one I bought, actually it was the first dress ever that I liked.
I took my bridesmaids there and the same consultant worked with us, but we were mostly on our own since she had 2 other brides she was dealing with. We found a couple dresses we liked but the prices were a little high so we continued searching. On President`s Day we decided to go to a bigger store and we fell in love with a dress and when we asked the price it was $49.99 minus my 15% discount off the original $165 price tag. Unfortunately it is a discontinued color and they only had one dress in the right size. The store manager spent about an hour and a half calling every David`s Bridal in the West trying to track down 2 more dresses. They found one, but the third one was no where to be found. This was for my maid of honor and we figured she could wear a different one, but she decided to purchase the size they found which was bigger and she would get it altered.
We were so impressed at the time they spent trying to get us the dresses and on top of the incredibly low price they gave each one the 15% discount. We are hoping the dresses work out, since one is too big and the other is for my niece who just had a baby and may be too small.

Once again David`s Bridal comes through for me. Thanks to Laura`s research I found the 18! Now my niece won`t have to starve herself. Still no luck with the 6 or 8 guess we`ll have to live with the 10 (my moh can pig out lol).
I`m sorry so many of you have had problems with David`s Bridal, but I am definately a bride that is very thankful to them for helping me get my discontinued bridemaid`s dresses!

I have not bought my dress yet, but I am seriously looking somewhere else than David`s Bridal. I had an appointment on a Saturday & I was a little late getting there because of Traffic so they told me to wait 1 hour. They would treat me like a walk in. Oh I don`t think so... I had an appointment... So they finally worked me in. The first lady I had was wonderful! She found exactly what I wanted. I was still trying on dresses and started working with some other girls later on... I didn`t get to finish -- I felt very rushed. I made another appt for a week day, my consultant wasn`t there so they gave me a substitute. My appointment was at 7 so I made sure I was on time. When i got there they told me everyone was at lunch. 20-30 minutes later I got this horrible lady. She shouldn`t be able to work there. I had all of my friends there to help me - Thank God... When I needed a petticoat or shoe or anything we had to wait till she decided to wander back over to my dressing area. So we get her around 7:30ish.. Before 8:30 she had the NERVE to ask me if I was finished or did she need to find someone else to help me -- She said she had to leave to pick up her daughter.... I WAS SO UPSET. The next lady came over about 10 minutes later and asked if I needed anything.. I asked her if she could grab a couple of other dresses. She told me "Honey, we close in 20 Minutes". It really made me mad ... I would have wrote a check that night to pay for a dress I liked but the David`s Bridal in Houston, TX (Galleria - San Felipe Location) feels that women who come in for a 7:00pm APPOINTMENT are bothersome and a waste of their time. NEVER GOING BACK THERE AGAIN.

David`s Bridal is horrible. I went to one in No. CA, for my cousin`s wedding in which I was a bridesmaid. I had only received the call from my cousin that day about which dress we would choose, so I immediately went to the store. When the sales lady heard the date of the wedding, she freaked. She started lecturing me that it was impossible for the dress to be ready or shipped in the 6 weeks we had allowed (I`m a size 8, not a 32 or 000--shouldn`t be too hard). I called my cousin who said that their store in So. CA said it would be no problem. The sales lady here refused to order the dress for me because she said it would not be there on time, so she picked up the phone and rudely ordered it from the other store, even telling them that the dress wouldn`t be there on time. Needless to say, my dress arrived weeks early. So, it seems like David`s Bridal is a little hit and miss. Depends on the estrogen level for the day I guess.

I also had a terrible experience at David`s Bridal. I hated it there. I told them exactly what I didn`t want and everything the saleswoman brought me was something in that catagory.
The most I can say is yes they are affordable, but most of their dresses are boring or ugly. Normally it seems like if you do see one you like they can`t get it in the size you need. It creeps me out that you take the floor dress and only under extreme circumstances can you get a brand new one. I did go back one time to look at bridesmaid dresses and felt that they were a little better. I talked to the manager and she said that they were trying to change their reputation. Good thing!
All in all though I think that they are truly not worth it. I did go somewhere else that was fantastic to buy my gown. I did pay more, but I do know that I got a great dress and great service. I actually drove an hour and a half to get there and I also recommend everyone I know to go there. Sometimes you are just better off at a better shop. Plus most the time you can look and find really great deals. I am sure no one can beat the $99 sale at David`s, but really how many dresses actually fit into that catagory?
Now this is just my opinion, but I just think that a bride has enough to worry about. She doesn`t need to go and be messed with when looking for "the gown".
By the way, I am in MN.
Thanks,
Alana

I`m so sick of everyone trying to take up for David`s Bridal. They are rude and mean people. They ripped my dress and altered it to the point that it`s no longer wearable. They insulted my bridesmaids and ignored me! No I`m not rich, but I had 5,000 dollars with me to spend. I`m not poor. Everyone I`ve talked to agrees, BEWARE. The Huntsville, Alabama branch is so awful that the Better Business Berau is probably going to be shutting it down. A bride`s dress is suppose to be the most wonderful thing you get. All I got was a headache and an awful night.

Um, Rebecca,
The BBB does not have the power to shut down any business.
Did you complain to the store management. If not, maybe you should so they can help you. Just a suggestion.

I absolutely HATE David`s Bridal! Their dresses are crappy and the service is ridiculous. The sales associate that was "helping" me actually told me that they had nothing I was looking for. She brought me a few ugly dresses and then pretty much told me I should look somewhere else. Although, I am not going to blame the entire chain, only this location. Worst of all, they would not stop calling me after only going in there once. They also sold my name and address to hotels and venues, so I received a ton of junk mail. Maybe not all David`s Bridals are as unprofessional as this, but the Bakersfield location is!

I can`t imagine a bad experience from David`s Bridal. I helped my daughter look for a wedding dress. We looked in Baton Rouge and New Orleans, and at both stores the sales people were wonderful. We had no problems, and I was very happy with both stores. In fact, our sales lady in New Orleans was new, and she got teary-eyed when she saw my daughter in her dress. She bent over backwards to help us. I think you should talk to management if you have problems. If you have to, go over the heads of those at the store.

I heard positive and negative feedback from other customers regarding their experience as David`s Bridal customers so I really wasn`t surprised by what I encountered when I went there.
I went there without an appointment so I signed in when I got there and was told to check the racks for dresses that I liked. In advance of my visit, I checked out dresses on your website and noted the style numbers of the dresses that appealed to me; in addition to the dresses that I found online, I found other dresses on the rack that I liked.
When I finally got called, I went to the front desk to fill out a sheet and the desk rep made such a production about which sheet I should fill out because of "the sequence" of how the sheets are ordered. I had to listen to this dialogue plus the sales associates compliants about other customers.
When I was greeted by the associate that was assigned to me, she immediately gave me the impression that she wasn`t going to help me to the best of her ability. I gave her a list of style numbers of dresses that I liked and she told me we don`t have time to look up style numbers because I only have an hour to be with her. That statement immediately gave me a sour impression about the store. In addition to being told that my style numbers were useless for my visit, she told me that I was looking at the wrong rack and sent me to a different rack to look at dresses. She picked out three dresses for me to try on and I couldn`t find anything else that I liked.
I didn`t like any of the dresses that she pulled and then decided to look up the style numbers that I had. Quite frankly, I don`t know the difference between an 18 and an 18W but she said that I was an 18W thereby precluding me from trying on an 18.
I left the store feeling angry and demoralized but then again, I was forewarned about the reputation of David`s Bridal.

I went to the Memphis David`s Bridal and was impressed. The lady spent a lot of time with me even though, since my fiancee is in Iraq, we have not "set" a date for sure yet. She also knew I sould be going to other places before I made my decision. She informed me that if I found another dress at a different location then she would be willing to try to order it cheaper. I don`t think it is David`s Bridal that is the problem, just certain consultants have issues, or maybe some brides-to-be think the world should stop for them. I have worked in retail for years so one of the first questions I KNOW to ask is about the return policy (and get in in writing! They should have a written policy to hand you). Also, reguardless of the reason, if you show up late for an appointment, they can`t very well ask the other customers to just stand around hoping you will come. They don`t know so they have to take the next customer. Then you have to wait. It is in no possible way their fault if you are late. I guess wedding stress makes people need someone to take everything out on. This is my 2nd wedding and David`s has been very helpful through both.
