Advice Needed--Bustling A Heavy Train
I have a Maggie Sottero Desirae gown which has a fairly heavy long train. It`s semi-cathedral length, I believe.
I don`t really care for trains, and my wedding isn`t going to be ultra formal, so I was thinking of walking down the aisle with it bustled. The problem is that a lot of the bustles I`ve seen make the gown look completely different in the back--bulging and hanging at different pickup points. And if I was walking down the aisle with it bustled, I would like the gown to look just like it was a floor length gown.
From my research, I would need the type of bustle that has mulitple buttons at the waist only, and when it`s up, you shouldn`t really be able to tell that there`s a bustle at all. Is this possible with such a heavy train? Has anyone had any experience with getting a long train bustled well?
Or I was thinking of possibly getting the train shortened or cut off completely. But I`m not sure that that`s such a great idea, in case I want to pass the gown on or sell it.
Thanks for any advice.
PS. Anyone know of any good alterationists in the NM area?

Hi. I had my dress busseld and it was a Private Lable By G dress with a 8 foot long train. I had a private seamstress do the alterations for me and unfortanitly I`m in Pa. So that isn`t gonna help for you but any how she used tiny hooks like on bras in underneith the dress layers with tiney string loops to attatch the train up so that the dress still hung like a traditional bell dress my butt didn`t even look big so that made me happy. And the other problem was because of all the beading and sequins on the dress it couldn`t be made shorter either at the waist or at the bottom so they are also areas that you need to look at as well. I hope this helps you some and congradulations on your marrage and good luck to you both. Heather
