Advice Needed--Bustling A Heavy Train
I have a Maggie Sottero Desirae gown which has a fairly heavy long train. It`s semi-cathedral length, I believe.
I don`t really care for trains, and my wedding isn`t going to be ultra formal, so I was thinking of walking down the aisle with it bustled. The problem is that a lot of the bustles I`ve seen make the gown look completely different in the back--bulging and hanging at different pickup points. And if I was walking down the aisle with it bustled, I would like the gown to look just like it was a floor length gown.
From my research, I would need the type of bustle that has mulitple buttons at the waist only, and when it`s up, you shouldn`t really be able to tell that there`s a bustle at all. Is this possible with such a heavy train? Has anyone had any experience with getting a long train bustled well?
Or I was thinking of possibly getting the train shortened or cut off completely. But I`m not sure that that`s such a great idea, in case I want to pass the gown on or sell it.
Thanks for any advice.
PS. Anyone know of any good alterationists in the NM area?
