Balloon Drop

I was wondering if anyone else did a balloon drop for their first dance. How did it work out? Is it easy to set up by ourselves? Thanks

What is a balloon drop?

You have a very large bag filled with balloons attached to the ceiling. Someone off to the side of the room pulls a cord and and bag opens. All the balloons float down to the floor. It looks pretty, I`m just a little concerned about doing it ourselves. Making sure it`s set up alright, etc.

What would be done with all those balloons on the dance floor for the rest of the reception? In my mind, I just hear a lot of popping going on and balloons in the way of people attempting to dance and have a good time.

As for the look of it, I don`t know. Everyone has their own personal tastes. I think it`s sort of birthday party or prom or even game show!

I understand you`re entitled to your opinion Linda, but I wasn`t looking for put downs, I only want to know if anyone did it themselves and if it was easy to set up. If anyone else has any advice, it is welcome. Thanks.

Coincidentally, I actually saw this done very recently. I`d never seen it before. It was not done during the first dance, but rather at the end of the reception. All the guests were invited to the dance floor for a last dance with the couple. Balloons were dropped, and inside of the balloons were photographs, personal messages, and even some with gift certificates. It was alot of fun, but there was also VERY loud popping. For those of us who have one last nerve at the end of an event, that can be hazardous to our mental health! haha

It was a surprise, and it was fun...but Linda is right about the balloon popping!
