Giving Tips
This is to the Administrator of this website: I don`t understand why it says in the Tips that the audience should make bellydancers work to get our tips. Most professional bellydancers have worked hard and studied for many years to be able to dance professionally so we have worked for our tips. Tips are the audiences way of showing appreciation for the "work" you`re doing and we shouldn`t have to stoop to trying to get it from the tip giver. I personally feel and know alot of other dancers who feel the same that if we have to stoop to reaching around a man`s back to get a tip, he can keep it. We have to maintain a certain level of professionalism and dignity and respectability for our art and the culture that originated it. Bellydancing is not stripping and we don`t resort to those tactics to get our tips. The act of throwing money at the dancer originated in ancient times, so that is cultural, and that money is usually shared evenly with the band if there is one. Sometimes, people place tips in our hip belts or bra straps or hand it to us and we put it in our costumes. So please, for the sake of our profession, edit your tips to bellydance audiences. Maybe strippers stoop that low, but most bellydancers don`t and would prefer not to get a tip than to go through all that to get one.

Listen, you either want to show your appreciation of my dance by giving tips respectfully, or you can shove your money where the sun don`t shine.
