Excluding 2 Ushers From Limo..HELP!

I have a problem. My fiance are on a tight wedding budget. We are looking into getting a limo, but I am unsure of the etiquette. We could save several hundred dollars by getting a 10 person limo as opposed to a 12 (which most cos. Don`t even have) or a 14. This would mean including the groomsmen and bridesmaids, but excluding the 2 users. My fiance seems to think this is ok, but I`m not so sure, especially if they will be spending money on renting tuxes. Are ushers usually included in the limo ride, or is it ok to have them provide their own transportation?

They`re renting tuxes because they are part of your wedding party. Therefore you cannot exclude them from the limo.

Is it normal for your ushers to rent tuxes? Are they just going to be seating people or will they be standing up with the groom as well? We are not requiring our ushers wear tuxes. I think its a great expense for them to just seat people. (Our ushers are only seating people, no other responsibilities). Maybe just get them boutiniers and have them usher people in their own suit. Then you wouldn`t feel it necessary to include them on the limo. However, if you are truley on a tight budget are there other things that you would rather spend your money on than a limo? Maybe a friend has a nice car that you could borrow for just you and your groom. It depends on how long you intend to drive around in it. Just some thoughts.

Thanks to both of you for the help! I was wondering about whether the ushers do have to rent a tux. If I don`t have them do that, is it ok for them to find their own transportation? I`m not sure what is standard. They will not be standing up with the groom, they will be helping guests to their seats. Plus, having them just wear their suits would save them some money as well. Who would have thought wedding details can be so complicated? :)

Hi Meg, Yeah it can get pretty involved if you let it! If your ushers aren`t standing with the groom, why have them pay over $100 to rent a tux? People may even confuse them with some of the groomsmen. As I said we are just getting our ushers boutiners to wear and they will just wear their own suit. I have seen MANY weddings where they do it that way. Yes, they would then find their own transportation. Hope that helps.
