Wedding Decoration Ideas

I`m having my wedding in July 05 at a local hall. In the town I live there are no wedding planners or decorators. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on how I can decorate for a low cost but still be very elegant and fancy. If you have any pictures you could send me please send them to jessiedegagne@hotmail.com. I would really appreciate any ideas. Thanks again for anyone who has some suggestions.

Will you be hiring a florist? If so, then perhaps he/she can assist you in decorating the reception hall. You indicated that money is an issue; simply let the florist know what sort of budget you are working within and ask what they can do for you with the resources available.

Good luck and I hope your wedding turns out to be all that you dreamed it would be.

I am planning a low cost high elegant wedding. An idea I receive wasif you wanted to have columns (pillars) call local carpet stores and ask if they have any empty carpet rolls, the ywill usually give them to you for free if you explain that it is to make pillars for you wedding. (mine cost a picture of the finished product). Then paint them white and a base and top and there you go cheap but beautiful columns. Also do not understimate to power of tulle, if you can not find it cheap go to fabric.com they sell it in many colors for 3.00 a spool (25 yards 6" wide) hang from ceiling, on walls, use as shair swags. Also, instread of cloth table clothes, I am buying discounted fabric in my color (silver) and using that it will give each table a personality of its own and is cheaper. I hope these ideas help you and inspire you to be creative

Jill, I agree with you! You can have a low cost HIGH ELEGANCE wedding! I am getting married in 3 days, and I plan to tule the lace up--It is at my church. Would you mind giving me some tips on how to attach tulle to the ceiling, pews, walls, etc? I bout 80 yards of the stuff, and several rolls of 6` wide, along with tons of organza ribbon and pearl ribbon.
We are having a valentine wedding, and using colors red and ivory.

Thanks!

You can use white tacks, If they will let you put tacks up, if not most places have the drop ceiling, if they do use string or a small peice of wire to go around the frame of the drop ceiling. Or if you can find sticky goo (removable adhesive ) or double sided tape

I`m getting married July 16, 2005. I know it`s a long time from now, but I want to have everything planned out and to be exactly like I`ve always wanted it to be, but save as much as I can by doing so. Everyone`s ideas are greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

Jessica,

We bought silver toned candleabras from ebay (came out to like 65 or 70 dollars with shipping). Buy the tall taper candles. Get table mirrors and decorate with either glitter or votive candles all around...or even the favors instead. Either way, you save money, since flowers for reception tables can come in the hundreds,. My only problem is getting table mirrors!

Pretty much every place in america now has a walmart, so i`m assuming you have access to atleast that. Never underestimate its power. My cousin had a very beautiful wedding and reception and I know that she didn`t spend much. I think often times people think that fancy means you have to have a lot of decorations but simple elegance is much better than looking like you are trying too hard. Anyway, walmart has a great selection of vases, etc. And yes fake flowers. My cousin got these cute about 6-8" tall glass vases with a heart design on them for about a dollar a piece, she also bought the flowers to fill them at walmart and you didn`t even notice they were fake until you got right close to them. She combined these simple vases with votive candles in glass holders that matched the vases (also available at walmart) and had a beautiful elegant centerpiece that cost less than $5/table. So it is possible, just look around and explore craft stores and even the craft section at walmart, they often have little displays to give you ideas too. Anything is possible. Good luck.

Leyla,
Check out Lowe`s or Home Depot for Mirror Tiles. Maybe they could work as table mirrors.

Angela,

I am having NO LUCK with those table mirrors. I checked Home Depot, (too big) and since I am on a budget, I trying not to spend 5.00 for each one. Ikea had what is in my budget (4.99 for 4), beveled edges, but too small at 6 inches.

Any other ideas?
