Favors For Guests
I am looking for ideas on favors for guests attending our June wedding. I am also looking to find out where to go to buy such favors. [catalogues, on-line, stores]. Our theme is silver stars and we can only afford to spend a couple of dollars per couple. We have been searching for something such as star placecard holders that could be taken home and displayed holding a photo. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

We are doing silver stars for our theme for our June wedding too. I have an even tighter budget for favors, here`s what I came up with (if you`re a crafty person). I went to the hardware store and bought 1/4" dowel rods. I had them cut them into foot long sections. I then hotglued foot long sections of ribbon to one end and dovetailed the free end (a V-cut on the bottom). They will be used for our send off. They look great. Total cost = $0.12/each. We are also going to be making chocolate star lollipops. Get a mould at a craft supply shop. You also need some lollipop sticks. You can get these at the craft store too. You then buy the chocolate (you can get them in bulk at the grocery store or at a craft supply shop like michaels). You can get almost any colour, white, brown, dark, green, pink, whatever you want. You then melt it in a double boiler. You can flavour them here if you want, but if you do, remove from the heat before you add the flavouring or your chocolate will harden. You then pour the chocolate into the moulds and place one end of the stick into the center about 1". Place in the fridge or freezer for 5 minutes or until they harden. Lightly tap out and you have your chocolate lollipop stars (you can also do other shapes such as hearts). Wrap them up in cellophane and tie with a ribbon. We are also adding a little thank you card tied on the ribbon. Total cost = approximatly $0.75/each. We figured that even though we are on a tight budget, that we still wanted to be gracious hosts to our guests and didn`t want to eliminate favours. This way, we are still within our tight budget and our guests get to take a little something home with them. Plus, they taste really good too! Hope this helps and good luck with your planning.

Hi
We have a very limited budget also, but I think we are going to donate $2 per person to the Jimmy Fund charity, because we are both huge Red Sox fans, and thats a charity that the Red Sox work very closely with. But, as your theme is about stars, how about the Make A Wish Foundation. I think it`s unique and very thoughtful idea. Besides, what do people really do with the favors anyways? And you could make some sort of card, perhaps in the shape of a star, to put on everyone`s plates that tells them what their favor was... Just a thought....

Wow, that was quick! Thank you for the replies! I love this webisite. Please tell me again about the favors you are making - before the chocolate stars. Do you have pictures? Something I have since considered is buying plugs (small mini-plants) of tropical plants and decorating the little pots with silver bows, lilac cloth, etc to match our colors. I love plants and I think they might be a nice idea. I am still hoping for something with silver stars. Thanks again,
