Hummel Cake Topper
Hi!- I`m getting married this Oct (woo hoo) and I was wondering if people thought spending $150 on a cake topper was so completely and utterly ridiculous that I shouldn`t even consider it. I know it`s a lot of money for something so trivial, but it is a real Hummel. And I have a collection of really old Hummels dating back to the second World War. And this particular one, the cake topper, has a spot on it where we could have our new family name engraved on it and we could pass it down to our children and perhaps consider it an heirloom. And Hummels are collectibles that appreciate with time, not depreciate. What do you think? Ridiculous, or go for it??

Rachel,
From one Hummel collector and appreciator to another, Go for it! It`s your wedding and you have plenty of time between now and October to pay for it. It will bring so much meaning to your own children someday. The only problem will be...who gets it? Ha... One problem always leads to another! :-) Good Luck to you!

Thank you! Thats what everyone seems to be saying. And I`m cutting corners in a lot of areas, so there are extra funds to go around. And I guess every bride splerges on something whether it be her dress, or hair and makeup or shoes or whatever! I think thats just what I`ll do!

Think about the weight of the Hummel. I have a few that are very small but if the Hummel you have is large just think of how much it weighs because you don`t want the top falling over or being smashed.

Excellent thinking. I was going to order it online, but now I think I might try to find a dealer in my area and see if they have it there so I can look at it with my own two eyes!
