Ceremony/Reception

Hey everybody-

Ok ladies, i live in a very small town. Me and my fiance just bought a house.. The church we are getting married in is right across the street from us. And our reception is right next to our house ( it used to be the old school, but now is the community center)
Our wedding is at 2:00 PM and the meal is at around 6:00. Our ceremony is only going to last about 45 minutes. Considering a lot of people are from out of town, what do we have the guests do until we eat???
The dance won`t start until 8. The dj will play background music from 7-8.
Also how do I word that on our invitations. Any ideas???

Once again, we are not going to a bar and getting drunk!!!! I don`t plan on getting drunk on my wedding night. Leaving for an hour is traditional around here. Now lets leave that part aside. It is not considered rude!
We are having pictures before church. There has been thought of donig it after but i prefer to do it before.
Being at a wedding from 2:00 - sometimes midnight (when it is a family/friend wedding) is very common.
Our DJ plays from 7-12. I didn`t set that time, he did!
What i will probalby end up doing is having the reception start at 5:30. People can just come back at 5:30. There was thought of having out some snacky food, but i`m already on a tight budget, i can`t afford to pay the dj to come earlier, or to have extra food. So I will just leave a time for people to go home and change. My mother, a couple aunts, some friends, and my grandma live in my towns, most out of town friends/family can stick around there.
Thanks for all of the advice. LIke i said i really like the slideshow idea, that is still an option. But that is still another thing to have to worry about.
