Cocktail Hour Before Ceremony?
I need help....
I am having an outdoor summer wedding and want nothing more than to be married at sunset, by candlelight. (My ceremony and reception are both in the same place) However, I feel that I shouldn`t wait to start everything until late that evening, especially for guests who have traveled to be there. Since it doesn`t get dark until almost 9, I was wondering if I could have the invites say cocktail hour at 7 or 7:30 (with finger foods), with the ceremony to begin at 8:30. That would give guests a chance to mingle and meet others they didn`t know. The celebration would continue until late that night, early the next morning. I know that a lot of celebrities do it this way.....Is this a major etiquette faux pas???

I do not think so I am doing something similar and have seen it done before the guess will be greatful to not have to wait until 10 or so to eat after you get married lol you know I would just have extra time for all the extra set up of the different events of the wedding unless you can have it in multiple areas next to each other.
Also just a word of advice about the sunset wedding it sounds beautiful but keep in mind if you are videoing it the the semi-darkness before dusk would be hard to film possibly make it a half hour before do that towards the end of the ceremony you are seeing the wonderful colors of the sunset and you still get to see the video also then you could take some beautiful sunset pics after the ceremony .......that is what my fiance and I are doing in hawaii and the coordinator is the one that told us about the video being to dark to see ............hope that helps thanks so much naomi
