Father/Daughter Songs?
I`m looking for the perfect father/daughter song...but there`s a catch. I`ll be dancing to this song with my step-dad. He`s my only father so I feel bad for calling him my step-dad. Finding the perfect song has been a little tough because he`s been in my life since I was 9 years old and a lot of the songs have things in it about being a baby with your father. Any suggestions would be extremely helpful. Thanks.

"Wild World" by Cat Stephens....if you want it to be special, then use a song that is significant. Not one that everyone always choses.

SOrry, I can`t recall the name or artist, but if you check into country songs you will get a lot, such as "The man he didn`t have to be". I`m not sure if this fits you, since it is about a man, but I know it has been used in cases like yours and worked beautifully. I don`t know if you like country but it really has a lot of songs that could work and they are beautiful. Hope this helps.

Erica is talking about a song called He didn`t have to be by Brad Paisley. It is a beautiful song, but not for a father/daughter dance. It`s about a man singing about how he wants to be the type of father his stepdad was. No mention of daughters at all in the song.

If you like country "Then they do" by trace adkins( 99% sure of the artist) is a good one. It doesn`t start out with his kids as babies. It`s about his girls gowing up and getting married and his life without his kids. Makes me cry every time. Good Luck!

My situation when I got married the first time sounds alot like yours. I danced with my stepdad to "To Sir with Love" by LuLu. It has verses in there that talk about going from crayons to perfume, which can relate to a young girls
Instead of from like a baby. Check it out you might like it

If you don`t like Country (there are some of us out here :)) than I would suggest the song " I`m Everything I am Because You Loved Me". I too have a step-dad that raised me from 2 years. I also have my real father as well. SO I need to come up with two totally different songs that say two totally different things but that are both special in their own right! Yeah, wicked easy! I think I am going to pick that one for my step-dad because in all honesty, I am who I am because he had the strength to be the man he is and raise me. And for my real father, I`m not sure yet!! Any suggestions? :)

"Because You Loved Me" by Celine Dion or "Wind Beneath my Wings" by Bette Midler would work.

I don`t know if you got married yet but an excellent song for a daughter and step daughter is Brad Paisley`s "He Didn`t Have To Be". My grandfather passed away in the last few years and at the gathering after the funeral everyone was talking about him. My mother spoke up and said that everytime she hears this songs it reminds her of him. It is a really special song.
