Mama Drama
Can someone PLEASE help me!
All my life, I grew up with just my mom. (My father passed away 2 and a half years ago and I only saw him a few times a year beforehand) She is such a beautiful human being and has worked really really hard to make sure that I have had a good life as well as a wonderful wedding. She is recently remarried to an equally wonderful man.
My problem is my mother refuses to walk me down the aisle with my stepfather (The three of us would walk together) because she thinks she would ruin all my wedding photos because she`s "ugly". I don`t want just my stepfather to walk me down the aisle because she`s the reason he`s in my life... Like the tie that bonds us. To me, I couldn`t think of anyone more wonderful than my mother walking me to my husband and giving me away because she has been there for me my whole life. Am I wrong for wanting that from her? Should I press the issue further?

I think you should sit your mother down and tell her exactly how you feel. Or write her a letter and explain the meaning of the reason you want her to walk you down the aisle. Also let her know how beautiful she is to you and that she will not make the pictures bad. Tell her you will treat her to a day of beauty the day of the wedding. Where she doesn`t have to worry about doing her own hair and make-up. I will do that for my mom because she has never worn make-up or used a curling iron.
I hope all goes well. I think if you let her know how you feel she will come around.

I agree with how you feel. BUT, if your mom is so upset about walking you down the aisle, after talking with her again, then let it be. I realize that this is "your day" but she should not be stressed out about it either. My daughter once put me in a similaiar situation and I ended up shaking and crying. In the end we compromised....it was not worth the stress on me, and the "I`m sorry" feelings my daughter had afterwards.
