I Will Never Buy A Dress At David`s Bridal

I was shopping at a David`s Bridal on 10/25/03 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The wedding consultant (Jennifer) assigned to help me select and try on a wedding dress was rude and completely unprofessional. She insulted me and said that "dresses in plus sizes are hard to find." In additon, I was trying on a dress that was my size in wedding dresses, but she meagerly attempted to help me and said that "this dress is not going to fit you." The area outside of the fitting rooms was a disaster and I almost tripped on a tiera. When I tried to go over to a debris-free area with three way mirrors to get a full view of my dress, she told me that there wasn`t any room over there to look at dresses. I was completely insulted and unsatisfied by my visit to this store!

That explains why when I called David`s here to originally order my dress, they told me it was still available and was $349.00. I called the David`s Bridal Outlet in El Paso, TX (where supposedly they send the dresses when they become discontinued), who told me that my dress had been discontinued 6 months before. What the heck? I then called the 800 # for customer service, who told me the dress had just been discontinued and not a single store had it in stock. I`m so glad I found this website here in time before I had a potential disaster.

I did ask the bridal salon owner where I am buying my dress from now to see if she could get the dresses out of David`s catalogs. She managed to locate someone through a contact and was able to pull it off. So David`s can take their "exclusive originals" and shove it! LOL! It will all come back on them some day.

Now , this is just me, but everything I found at David`s Bridal was cookie cutter and not all that original. I found the same dresses at lower prices at smaller salons. AND the other Bridal Salons were not so incredibly rude. I also found their sales reps to be obnoxious. I from DE, and I`m glad to hear it`s not just me or the DB in Delaware.

I too live in Mpls, MN and although I didn`t go to David`s I do know the ways of that store. There are more complaints against that store than I can count.

I found a wonderful bridal salon in St. Paul and they were fantastic to work with. I`m not a plus-sized bride but I did see many in the store and they were all treated with respect and assisted in finding the right dress.

If you`d like to know where I recommend you go, please give me your email address and I`ll send you the information.

I live in Utah, and I was also not impressed with Davids bridal. Even though I am not a plus size, I wanted a modest dress. Right from the get go the wedding consultant was very rude and was not helpful at all. I walked in and went to the counter to ask where I went if I had an appointment. It took the girl five minutes to even get out of her chair and come up to the counter to ask if I needed help and even at that she acted very put out, then when I told her where I was getting married and what kind of dress I was looking for, She said they only had one dress that was modest and the rest would have to be filled. I was just starting to look so I told her that it was ok I was just trying to get an idea of what styles I liked the best. I found a dress I really liked, as my friend and I sat and ooh and ahhed at it, the wedding consultant walked up flat out told me that the dress didn`t look good and it would look like crap especially if I tried to have it filled. Then as I was looking in the mirror outside my dressing room she went in my dressing room took all the dresses that were in there and put them away. Needless to say I got dressed and left. It wasn`t a shock when I went to leave and she was no where to be found. (Thank goodness). But I found a place called Bridal Corner it was great, the people were friendly and acted like I was the most important person in the store and because of that, that is where I ended up buying my dress from.

Well this past weekend I went dress shopping. I had read these post about David`s Bridal and was very sceptical to go in. I first went to a bridal shop, and the woman there was not helpful at all and didn`t have any dresses that would fit me (I`m a size 16). She said that plus size wedding dresses were not popular. ???She was not helpful or pleasant at all. The next closest bridal shop was David`s. I reluctently went in there to see what kind of treatment that I would recieve from them. They were extremely busy but they still managed to sign me up to see a consultant. The consultant was VERY helpful and brought out A LOT of selections in my size and was very professional. I found a dress that I really love. I plan to purchase my dress through them. I hope that the rest of my dress purchase goes as smoothly as my fitting. I`m sorry for everyone elses bad experiences. I just had to say that the David`s Bridal in Oxnard, CA was great!

Maybe it`s just me, or maybe it`s just where I`m located. I go to the David`s Bridal at South Coast Plaza in Southern California and I always have a good experience. Maybe they like their job more, or something else. But for all of my prom dresses I`ve tried on I`ve always gotten true feedback instead of fake stuff that dress shops like to throw at you to sell their product. It could also be that I`ve become somewhat of a regular customer, seriously.. 4 years running I`ve looked for dresses there. Senior year I got one off ebay (as soon as I bought it I went into Davids Bridal and finally tried on one dress one of the consultants had been telling me would look gorgeous on me.. I never believed her until I tried it on and realized I"d bought the wrong dress for prom). They even already know that I`ll be shopping there for my wedding dress :D they have my dream dress and they know it.. Perhaps they are holding that over me to keep me coming back? I dunno, but if you are ever in town try the one at South Coast Plaza, much better experience than what I`ve read here. Experienced but comfortable air.
