Hollywood Prom Theme

Does anyone have any good ideas for a Hollywood prom theme? Specifically I need decoration ideas that are free standing. The ballroom that we are renting will not allow any decorations on the ceiling or walls, and no glitter. Umm...doesn`t leave us with much. I would appreciate any help!

Hey we are doing our theme as Hollywood in 2005. That sucks you can`t decorate on the walls and stuff....thats why we`re having ours in our school gym and we decorate like CRAZY its soo awesome!! You can the negative roll of film out of a camera and thru the little holes on the side string pipe cleaner and then twist it into spirals! Its really cool!! Put a redcarpet on the ground! If you are allowed to decorate on the walls or tables or anything at all you can go to like Giant Eagle and for $1 you can buy the movie posters they are done with you could hang those up at certain places? Put gold stars on the ground w/ the couples names..or the ppl going stag?

Print pictures of the stars and put their face on a cardboard cut out for your table centerpiece or hang from every chair. Bring a old Movie camers from school and with a computer set up a show on a wall. Have art students make a cardboard cutout of the words Hollywood. Decorate with props from your theater classes and ask your fellow students to come dressed like their favorite Hollywood actor in character. Or decotrrate every table like an era of Hollywood from the silent movies of the 20" to gangster movies of the 30`s-50`s war movies of 40`s -50 . Hippy and Biker movie of the 60`s, musicals or space movies of the 70`s. Horror movies of the era. Space movies of any era. Save money by doing it yourself.

Instead of giving a crown and tiara for king and queen, give Oscars-that`s what we`re doing!

My school is also doing a Hollywood theme, and we have come up with some decorations, and i could give you some ideas for it. Well, first of all we are doing more of a 50`s Hollywood, like when Marliyn Manroe was really big, and we are getting a big cut out of her that is free standing. We are also cutting out or maybe buying, free standing black silouetts of photographers. You could also buy the rolls of what looks like big film, and have it free standing. We are also getting a red carpet, which is a must have for Hollywood. You can also buy the big Hollywood sign that is free standing that would look really cool. If you need more ideas message back, cause we got tons of cool ideas.

We made our daughters sweet 16 party a Hollywood theme party.
I purchased a bunch of movie posters on Ebay store Postersagogo and glued them on the 30 X 40 inch Foam board (5 USD at Staples) and placed them around the room for decoration. I used black tablecloth and sprinkled Silver Star confetti on them. Or use alternate black and gold tables cloth or gold plastic plates on black tablecloth.
We had fake Oscars for ‘Best Dressed’, ‘Best Dancer’, ‘Cutest’, etc and made it a real awards ceremony. We created each guest a ‘Hollywood Walk of Fame’ star and had him or her stick it on a mockup walk of fame (Hollywood signposts) while being photographed by fake paparazzi. We created a slideshow presentation of our daughter which we showed just before we awarded her with a ‘Life Time Achievement Award’. We pre-recorded her grand parents through the phone and pretended we interviewed during the show in a ‘life’ satellite feed. We also put together a Hollywood Trivia, which the guests filled in during dinner and gave out socks to dance on, since the dress code was semi-formal and all the girls came on high-heel shoes.
Catering for this age group is real simple. Go to your local Italian and have them create you big bulk of pasta, meatballs, chicken Parmesan. Kids love that stuff.
Don’t forget the red carpet entrance with lots of light (use the halogen work lights from Home Depot) and a E-photo opportunity booth where the guests get interviewed about their upcoming movie. To get a copy of the Hollywood trivia, just mail me at ruudz@aol.com.
