Programs, Favors
I am getting married on valentines day, and am TRYING to keep everything on or below budget...Is it tacky not to have programs or favors?

I made my own wedding programs for my quests using a template It was really easy, just download the template, type in your info using Microsoft Word, and print from your home computer. I used the French envelope design and it came out great. If you’re on a budget, like I was, these programs look like you spent a fortune but I only spent about $0.15 each, including really nice paper!!!

You can purchase paper to print your wedding programs with at Staples of Office Max. I bought 250 Programs for around $25.00.

I dont think it is tacky to do without either... But I would recommend having the programs anyway. It gives guests something to look at while they are waiting for the ceremony to start - keeps them entertained.
As for the favors - who needs them? Most favors look ticky tacky anyhow (in my opinion). Maybe just have after dinner mints on the tables in small dishes...? You can buy huge containers of after dinner mints at Costco or Sam`s Club.

Programs and favors are nice additions, but certainly not mandatory. It`s not in any way tacky to leave them out.

Thank you! You guys are helping keep me balanced! My fiance is so laid back....He just emailed me to remind me that I am free to do the rograms if I want, but he would like to keep everything simple.
Actually, I whipped up a trifold thing...brochure-like..When opened, the ceremony will be on the far left, the wedding party on the far right, and a thank you with our new address in the middle.
I`m thinking about slitting along the middle folds about 2" and weaving ribbon from back to front with a bow. Red, of course, for our Valentines Day wedding.

That sounds really nice. Must admit - I`m a little prejudiced since I`m also printing tri-fold program on card stock paper. I`m using same pic I used for wedding announcement on front - printed on vellum. I will do 2-hole punch and attach pic with burgundy ribbon. Inside has cast of characters (in order of appearance). Bach has reception schedule, middle: lyrics to Bridal song I`m using and third fold contains acknowledgements.
