Here`s our experience with the Cinderella Shoppe we are posting it where ever we can. I just returned from a terrible experience at the Cinderella Shoppe in Palmayra and want to share it with anyone who is considering purchasing or looking for a dress there. When I called to make an appt. At the Cinderella Shoppe the woman I spoke to told me she needed to charge a $35 consultation fee because she hires freelance consultants who do not work regular hours in the shop. I paid the fee gladly - expecting higher level of service and access to a variety of higher end dresses. When my sister, mother and I went to our appt. Today, it was nothing short of a disaster. The woman who we were made to believe was a consultant sat down with us and began grilling me - asking me where I had been, telling me that I was wrong to be there because it should have been the last stop for my dress, etc. My sister tried to interject to take some of the heat off of me, but she told her, "I`m not talking to you. I`m talking to her." She then began to lecture us about how we shouldn`t be there, that we were only browsing, that we were clearly upset, etc. I tried to tell her that I just wanted to look at bridal gowns and she wouldn`t hear it. She said, "We`re obviously getting nowhere here - I`ll get you your $35 back." We left the store and I called back to get the owner`s name and I was told his name is Richard Gerhart (spelling?). Shortly after, we visited another local business and didn`t even have to say where we had been -the sales associate said that she had several brides come in her store in tears over their experience at the Cinderella Shoppe and that they often will only let you try on 3 dresses max. The worst part? Annette Gerhart, the woman who passed herself off as a consultant, was actually the owner. She essentially leaches off other local bridal shops by sending brides there to find the kind of dress they want - wasting the other stores` time, etc. - and then undercuts them by reducing the price. The most disgusting part of the whole experience was that she tried to weasel $35 from us by passing herself off as a consultant (a tacky one at that - the place was hideously decorated). For anyone considering visiting the Cinderella Shoppe, please keep in mind that the experience counts for a lot - shopping for a dress should be a memorable occassion, not a time to be berated, lectured or put on the spot. I would be very wary of buying a dress from someone with such shady business practices.
