Invitation Wording

I`m aware that you spell everything out for the invitations (ie. "one o`clock" instead of "1:00"), but does anyone know the correct format for doing the half hours? Would saying "one thirty in the afternoon" or even just "one thirty" be appropriate?

To say 1:30 you would write "half past one o`clock".
