Making Wedding Invitations

I was thinking about making my own wedding invitations to save money, I was wondering if anyone knew if you have to buy computer programs to do this, or if there are places online that have free programs to download. And if anyone has any dos and don`ts when making your own wedding invitations.

I heard somebody around here bought their invitations at one of the office supply places and printed them using Word.

You can purchase unprinted invitations at Michael`s craft store. They have a good selection and are very nice. My son is getting married 6/5/04 and we purchased the invitations at Michael`s - they are beautiful and very easy instructions included. Also you can purchase many other items for your big day! Good luck. If you don`t have a Michael`s Craft store - I`m sure you have other craft stores around. Most all the craft stores or scrapbood ,stationary supply stores carry a large selection. Good luck.

Thats where I got my invitations and I just print them on my printer. The lady I purchased them from is very nice and sweet and has templates to help you out with.
Enchanting Dreams is what her EBAY store is called

I was also thinking about this. All I have nearby is a Staples, so I went to look there. They have some very simple invitations in gold or silver, but they are pretty. They are just as nice as the cheapest samples I have received from magazines (but these are around $75/100!) The invitations at Staples come in a pack of 50 for $24.99. Thank You cards to match are 50 for $9.99. They also have vellum paper kit that you can also buy to decorate more if you want. I need around 150 invitations (that is including a few extras) and the total cost for me including the Thank You`s is $104! Also, response cards and envelopes come with the invitations! I haven`t been able to get to a Michael`s but would be interested in comparing a few more.

Party places sell blank invitations too that you could just use your printer to create. You might want to try like a Party City or Factory Card Outlet. Wal-mart even has blank invites -- some of the ones in Chicagoland even have a whole "bridal" section.

It is funny that I saw this message! I just purchased my do-it-yourself invites from Michaels...tonight. The kit includes pressed flower paper, vellum, ribbon, response cards and envelopes for both. I used the 40% off coupon that comes with the weekly flyer. It was $26 bucks for 50! Two Boxes for $50. Go check it out!

I got mine from Michael`s and printed them on my home computer...but if you don`t have a Michael`s, A.C. Moore is also a good craft store.

How difficult is it to print them out on the computer? Does a special setting or type of printer have to be used?

Thank you!

Hi everyone,
I bought my invitations on-line and I used word to set up and printed them on my own computer. Nothing special about my printer. I think that they truned out beautifully. I was able to make up my own wording and customize them by dropping the writting down and adding a bow at the top. I love them and the few people that have seen them have had only good things to say about them.
Good luck,
Sandie
