I Will Never Buy A Dress At David`s Bridal
I was shopping at a David`s Bridal on 10/25/03 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The wedding consultant (Jennifer) assigned to help me select and try on a wedding dress was rude and completely unprofessional. She insulted me and said that "dresses in plus sizes are hard to find." In additon, I was trying on a dress that was my size in wedding dresses, but she meagerly attempted to help me and said that "this dress is not going to fit you." The area outside of the fitting rooms was a disaster and I almost tripped on a tiera. When I tried to go over to a debris-free area with three way mirrors to get a full view of my dress, she told me that there wasn`t any room over there to look at dresses. I was completely insulted and unsatisfied by my visit to this store!

I bought my wedding gown at david`s bridal (i am also a plus size as well) in Browndeer Wis. Most of the gals were pretty nice there.Nubian assited me with my gown, she was VERY nice and understanding in every way. I had a personal attendant that was out of town and I had to call the store in Minniapolis, Minn and the people there were such *******. I will never deal with that store again!

I never thought I would be saying this but I had a pretty bad experience there myself. Out of about 10 brides I was the only one with an appointment. Everything started off okay, but as the walk ins arrived the service got worse and the dressing room area became uncomfortably overcrowded. They were understaffed, so my attendant made a lot of mistakes with my dresses and the sizes. Tiaras and veils were disappearing like hot cakes, and had my matron of honor not had her witts about her I don`t know what I would have done. To make matters worse my attendant gave me the wrong bridal catalog to take home. Inside the catalog was a yellow paper that I later found out is NOT even supposed to leave the store. Not only is the paper not supposed to leave the store, but it wasn`t even my paper it was another bride that was there at the same time. When I called to try and get my information the put me hold forever, I had to explain my story to two different people only to find out that they were "too busy" to help me, and they would take my number and call me back with the info. They never called me back. I called them again the next evening, and once again I had to tell the story to two people before they could help me. I was able to speak with the attendant that I had and she told me that she would have to look up the info and call me back. When she finally called me back ( it was after 10pm, which I felt was inappropriate to return the call so late), that`s when she told me that the yellow paper was supposed to stay in the store for their records (which makes sense because it has the dress style number and size on it). It upsets me greatly that my personal information could have gone home with somebody else. This form has your name, address, home and cell number, fiance`s name and address, and his contact number, email address, etc... (not to mention that some women don`t want other people knowing what size they wear). Anyway to sum it up they also expect you to pay in full when you order your dress. The more I think about it the more I wouldn`t trust David`s Bridal, what if something goes wrong, I have no recourse because I have already paid for the dress in full. I have decided to email the girl whose paper I have because if she contacts David`s Bridal they won`t have her dress info because it went home with me, if she still decides to still continue with David`s Bridal that is her choice. Unfortunately, the dresses at David`s Bridal are exclusive and I won`t be able to order them anywhere else if I really like one of their dresses.

I had a great experience buying my dress at David`s and I am a plus size. But beware-- no matter what size you are they really get you with alterations!
They charged me $75 for just a bustle!
And my MOH`s alterations were more than her dress!
They really gouge you!!

I went to David`s Bridal in search for a prom dress. I LOVE IT THERE! The people were VERY nice and helpful. I plan to go there very soon again. It was not crowded at all, there were a lot of fitting rooms and nothing was messy.

David`s is Value
I think its important to step back and define value. Yes, the dress we chose couldnt even hold a candle to the 2,500 dress at Govani`s and the service was comparable to what you may receive at a Macy`s but it wasnt the service I would have experienced at Nordstoms. The bride however looked stunning and was more importantly happy. Not to mention the bride as an extra 2,200 buck burning a hole in her pocket. Did someone say "Honey Moon" or maybeeeyyy even taking a piece out of that college loan. You decide for yourself.

I liked David`s Bridal for the most part. I bought my wedding gown there. No the service wasn`t "perfect" but it was close enough. No store can fulfill all your wishes and desires for your wedding- its just not realistic. They aren`t fairy godmothers. They are sales people who likely work on commission. Its naive to think that they aren`t motivated by money and sales. A savvy, intelligent consumer will realize that and not be so offended. My David`s Bridal consultant called me several times at home to see if she could sell more dresses for my wedding party. Am I offended by that? No - she is a SALESPERSON she works on commission, she is just trying to do her job and make money.
