I have heard of people doing a mashed potini bar! You serve mashed potato bar in a martini glass and then a bar of a variety of toppings like bacon, cheese, broccoli, sour cream, gravy, and basically anything else you could think of putting on a potato! I hear it goes over well and its also really inexpensive if you can buy everthing yourself!!!!

We offer really a really neat option for cold food receptions... It is our Sweet Celebrations Dessert Bar package. Everyone who has had this at their wedding has loved it! I get referrals every day! It does less than a traditional caterer, and is very convenient!

But, if you are planning on doing all the food yourself, you could easily set up a dessert bar reception on your own for very low cost. You can easily find friends and relatives to help you bake! You can also purchase candy to put in bowls to fill out the table. (hershey kisses, etc...) The key is variety and presentation. You could plan to have three cake selections, brownies, cheesecakes, cupcakes, fudge, different types of cookies...the possibilities are limitless! It has worked out well for my brides in the past who wanted something more than cake and punch that did not have to be heated.
Doing it yourself can save quite a bit of money. However, as always, I`ll be glad to put together a package for you if you would like one!
