Alternatives To The Traditional Bridesmaids
My fiance and I are getting married in Maui (just the 2 of us) in May 2004 and having our reception in July 2004 at our home. Even though we are being pretty non-traditional, we are still trying to incorporate some of the traditions that are meaningful to us. For me, because we are not having a formal wedding party I still want to honor the women in my life who I would normally have as bridesmaids.
My sisters are helping me quite a bit in planning the reception and helping me pick out a dress - so, they are being true bridesmaids!
I have thought about sending a little card to those who I would ask to be my bridesmaids, and then having a nice breakfast or lunch the morning of my reception and maybe getting a piece of jewelry for each of them.
Does anyone have any other ideas?

Hi, Tiff --
Sounds nice! How about creating a non-traditional Guest Program for this reception, giving a special mention to your sisters for their help & support? This program could mimic a regular wedding one, w/ the front having your names, & the wedding place & date. The back might have general plus specific "thank you`s".
Then, on the inside this folded single sheet of heavy-weight paper, you might offer your guests some info re your wedding, your plans, whatever you`d like to share w/ them.
Just an idea. If you want any suggestions on creating such a program, write me directly at logosophias@netscape.net.

Bon
