Please beware of David`s Bridal!!! My daughter and I went there looking for a formal and upon arrival we were told to look at the selection and let them know when we would be ready to try on. We picked out several dresses and then the "uglies" came out. I was told that I had to have an appointment to allow my daughter to try on the dresses (not mentioned at time of arrival). We were told it would be at least 30 minutes before anyone could let us into a fitting room. I promptly hung the dresses in a clump on the rack and asked for the manager. I was told she was eating lunch at 6:00pm and I told them I didn`t care and to get her. She came to the front of the store licking her fingers (class act) and told me that they are a full service salon and only show by appointment. She told us that this is their busy time of the year and I should respect that! I told her that she wasn`t the only game in town. My daughter was visibly upset by this situation and they ruined what would have been a wonderful Mom/Daughter outing. If they had no intention of allowing us to try on the dresses or that we needed an appointment this should have been told to us as soon as we walked in the store. They need to get their heads out of the behinds and remember the power of the customer!

It is the busy time of year, and yes, ALL bridal shops require appointments. It is so you are given more attention.
Make an appointment next time. Do you just walk into your doctor`s office without an appointment?

Fergie,
PLEASE>>>> are you comparing a Doctor to David`s??? David`s is there to sell bridal gowns, they are not brain surgeons and looking to solve world peace! We are their to buy THEIR product so they do not have to treat us, THE CONSUMER, like a 2nd class citizen just because we did not have an appointment.
And by the way, doctors to take walk ins - I know, I work in a doctor`s office!!
So please do not compare a Doctor to David`s!

Fair enough, but let me ask this...do you take your appointments first or your walk ins? And don`t tell me you take emergencies first. Emergency patients go directly to the ER, I should know, my father is a doctor.
And no, your not second class citizens because you did not have an appointment...but don`t get mad at a store because they can not take you because they are booked.
And don`t get mad because a manager is on a lunch/dinner break. Its the law, they get a break.

I, too, am VERY angry at the way i was treated at david`s. I ordered a 2 piece bridesmaid`s dress a month ago. The "consultant" who helped me find my size was very nice. I fit into a size 6 top and an 8 skirt. The top comes in less than a month later and zips at the waist but not up my back. Unfortunately, the wedding had to be moved up 4 months due to the bride and groom being shipped overseas so this is all last minute. They are not able to receive an 8, but they can get a 10 which will have to be sized down. They refuse to eat the cost of the alterations because apparently my ribs have gotten larger in the past month...i think we all know that this isn`t possible. I was a retail manager for 3 years. I wouldn`t have been caught dead treating my customers like this and i definitely wouldn`t have been as condescending. I know that word-of-mouth is the most successful form of advertising and i hope more people share their terrible experiences about this less than professional shop.

Hello all...I don`t want to cause any trouble, but would like to hopefully help everyone be happy here....
I worked at Davids bridal for 2 months and quit bc i didn`t want to be apart of such cruel treatment to customers.
It was horrible......
Any way Fergie: this time of year isn`t as busy as mar-aug...that`s the worst...so....
As far as the lady with the daughter, I feel horrible and you should know you and the other lady aren`t the first nor the last...after seeing them bring one girl to tears, without a dress, or bridesmaid dresses 4 weeks before her wedding, I would never advertise their sorry names for them to gain more money....sorry all....but the truth sometimes hurts!!!!!!

Let`s see---I walked into a very busy Bridal Shop(not david`s) and was greeted and asked what I was looking for. Found 6 dresses and tried them on. NO APPT. Wasn`t sure if that was the dress I wanted so I left. Went to another shop( not david`s) and was greeted and asked if I need help and was given a dressing room and the lady went and found dress she thought would look good on me. NO APPT.
I purchased my dress and was treated great. I have called the Bridal Shop different times in the last week to ask questions and I am always treated nice and with respect. I have already paid in full for my gown but they are still nice to me. Oh yeah did I mention that I didn`t have an appointment at either shop???

Just came home from David`s Bridal. We went last week and were not aware of a need for an appointment but were okay with the manner in which we were told. We did just what was asked...made the appointment for the following week. We showed up an hour early so that we could register. I had a two-thirty appointment and was told, you may have to wait; we haven`t even started many of our 1:30 appointments...I looked the receptionist in the eye and explained, my maid of honor is here from out of town...and we have a two-thirty appointment and we need to get finished to prepare for a party we had planned...GO EAGLES!!! They took me immediately! I have no complaints...thank you Linda at the Wilmington store...you are lovely and I wish I could afford the dress I fell in love with...

To Ms. Fergie,
I also worked at David`s Bridal and in my employee handbook it says that we are to take appointments and walk-ins. Yes appointments have priority over walk-ins, but a walk in should get a dressing room just like anyone else because David`s is not some high-end boutique! I, like Heather, quit because I couldn`t stand the way David`s Bridal was operated or the way they treated customers. Alterations talked to people like they were stupid and management stayed in their office all day trying to avoid the public as much as possible. I was lied to from the minute I signed on, so why should I expect that they would treat customers any differently.
I wrote down as many numbers from my client book as I could get ahold of and called them and told them not to buy their dress from David`s and that if they wanted I would even go shopping with them to buy their dress! (I freelance as a stylist for a photographer, so that`s what I do daily anyway)

First of all, when I handed in my resignation they offered me a raise so that I would stay.
And second you must be one of the horrible manager`s there. Either that or you are related quite closely to Osama Bin Laden, because you seem to take the side of insensitive people as often as possible. Either you don`t have a heart or you`re fat and no one will marry you so you don`t give a damn about shopping for wedding dresses.
Whatever your answer is, tell it to a ghost, because I really don`t give a shit.

Dear I Quit,
I would not normally answer you, but you hit a nerve. I am from New York City. I lost many friends in the Trade Center. HOW DARE YOU COMPARE ME TO BIN LADEN!!!!
My husband was supposed to be on the 87th floor of Tower 2, but God was with us, and he was not there.
You can call me what you want, but when you reference on of the most horrible events that has ever happened to our country, then you are out of line.

Oh, don`t be so melodramatic. Besides - are you saying God WAS with you and your husband so he was spared, but he was NOT with the friends you loss. Nice.
Everybody knows DB has a bad rep with respect to customer service. It seems to me that the main issue at hand with the very first post in this thread is that the lady and her daughter should have been told upon walking in the door that they needed an appointment. If that`s the policy, do be it. But don`t play the POTENTIAL customer that way. Just tell them from the start.

To those who have issuse with David`s Bridal, I just like to ask a few questions. Did you go in on a Saturday? (busiest day of the week) Are you telling the truth about your experiance ? Some people do exaggerate to make things seem worst then thay really are. Now of course every business feels that they give good service, but some truly don`t. We are not perfact and you can not judge all stores based on the conduct of one. Those who have been in retail know how customers lie to get what they want no matter right or wrong. The customer is not always right, in fact often very wrong. I just ask that you be more realistic about the events that take place. Yes i do work at David`s Bridal and proud to. We at my store try to help when possible. I can`t speak for other, but we are not all the same, and we do not turn any away if they don`t have an appointment. We will take appointments first and you may have to wait. We are open 7 days a week and there is probably a less busy day that you could visit. I do appreciate all those who visit except those who choose to play when i could help someone who really needs some help. So before you jugde all stores you need to visit more of them, and when you do leave the drama at home.

Hi All- I had a perfectly fine experience at David`s Bridal. As a matter of fact, I`ve never had a negative experience at any bridal retailer. I really believe that if you are up front with people, and that if you are nice to them, invariably they are nice to you.
When I went to David`s, I did not have an appointment (because I didn`t realize that I would be near there and that I would have the time). It was a weekday, but I wouldn`t go to any bridal store on a weeked without an appointment; why create a problem for yourself? When I went in, I was greeted very nicely and asked if I had an appointment, when I replied that I didn`t the greeter let me know that it was not a problem and that she would have someone come over to me as soon as possible but in the meantime she`d be glad to direct me to any particular area of interest. I explained the nature of my visit (that I was just trying to get a sense of what styles would be flattering, and that we were looking at two possible dates -in two different seasons- so I would not actually be making a decision until we settled on a date). The greeter escorted me to where I could start looking at styles, and a few minutes later a very nice young woman came over, introduced herself, explained that she was assisting another bride at the moment but that she wanted me to feel welcome. I did.
She finished with the bride she was working with, came right over and helped me select three gowns to try for style. I explained the nature of my visit, and that if she wanted to save time I could forgo the extra crinolines, etc. She treated me with terrific professionalism. Brought the correct undergarments, shoes and accessories and never made me feel rushed (it was a fairly quiet afternoon, but still I appreciated that).
The experience was invaluable and I have recommended this store (David`s Bridal in Natick MA) whenever the topic has come up in conversation (I worked in a large corporation so there were many weddings). I did notice as I was trying on the gowns that they tended to run very true to size (I would have needed no alterations) and that the construction of the gowns was much nicer than I expected. Their pricepoints are mostly well under $1,000 (many gowns $300 to $800) so I expected that they would not be as well-made as they were. No, they are not natural fibers for the most part, but they are not charging for natural fibers, either (and that is something that is important to some, not to others).
I got a very nice note from the consultant after my visit.
I ended up with a silk Amsale gown from a boutique, but I absolutely intend to return to Davids for accessories and for party dresses in the future. Also they carry bridesmaids dresses in separate pieces- I love that idea, every attendant can vary the style to suit her figure and still look coordinated.
Oh, almost forgot, a cousin decided to put together a semi-formal wedding in one month (yes, with teamwork they pulled it off very nicely). The reason I mention it was she went to David`s in Natick, selected a gown ONE WEEK before the wedding, and they had it ready for her in time. She looked beautiful (and it was very hard to believe that she paid only $400 for her gown- I found that out well after the fact but it was a reason I checked out David`s in the first place).
Wow. I can`t believe I had so much to say, but they were very nice to me, their product is solid, and I want to let it be known.

Wow this thread is active lately. I just thought I would add my 2 cents for all of you ladies who think that any problems must be the fault of the customer. I posted back in February regarding a sizing problem and horrible treatment by the manager at the shop I went to. I ended up having to get the district manager involved and she had alterations measure the tops that I tried on. These tops were in fact MUCH larger than when ordered so it turned out David`s was at fault. I don`t blame them for not being aware of this. I wouldn`t expect them to measure the "try ons" to make sure they aren`t stretched. I do expect a manager or even a sales associate to make an attempt to correct a problem before lashing out at a customer. Also, I thought this post was for discussing poor customer service by David`s....not some bored housewives trading insults.

Some of you are taking the option of this message board too far. The rest of us are trying to find information on wedding dresses, so please find a chat room or exchange e-mails if you want to immaturely bicker back and forth. You are offending alot of people unneccessarily with your comments. Take your angry demeanor somewhere else please.

I went to DB
I was very unhappy with the service. If the bride had not already picked out the dress from there I would have never stepped foot in there again. The lady was soo rude to me, like it did not matter how she helped me b/c I was a BM that I was gonna buy the dress no matter what.. Bull**** They did not have my size and I almost think the sizing is wack b/c I am a 14 and couldn`t get into a 16 and the B**** brings me a 20, I was floored!!! I left as she was telling me to go to another store....I called and the person onthe phone barely seemed interested in what I had to say.. The dresses int he store were in such poor condition....I was disgusted.. Looked like I was in a run down shop. I will never go to DB for my wedding and warn others not to as well.
If only the others had not ordered their dress I would not have to deal with DB again
