Backyard Wedding, HELP????
Hello.... I am getting married May 29th, 2004. My finance wants to get married in our backyard. We just recently bought a home together and have a decent sized yard. I recently moved here (to Texas) from Ohio so most of my friends and family will be unable to attend, and I surely dont have anyone here to help me plan. It will be a small wedding, which is nice, more intimate, but I am at a total loss for ideas and so forth. Can anyone shed some light on ideas to make my special day go well?? Any thoughts and ideas are appreciated. You can email me at chmekaha@sbcglobal.net. Like I said, I am in Texas, so it will be WARM outside when we get married, please take that into account. Thanks in advance for any help and or ideas!!!!!

A luau theme would be fun. That`s perfect for outside. When each guest arrives you can have someonne put a lei around their neck. Hibiscus flowers would be pretty to use. You could have hawaiian/island music playing at the reception and have a big cookout. If there`s not going to be that many guests then I wouldn`t go too crazy on the food.
If you don`t like that idea, you could a real romantic garden type theme. With lots of flowers, plants, candles, etc. What does your backyard look like? Is there alot of shade? Any landscaping?

Thanks for all your help!!! A nice romantic setting is what I am going for. You may be on to something. If you have anymore ideas email me at chmekaha@sbcglobal.net. I was thinking of having an arche, with flowers tied to it, getting married under it..... But... I need more ideas. We dont really want to have a DJ because we live in a nice quiet area. We have a huge backyard... I need ideas for entertainment, something a little more low key than a dj, but, we want to have our wedding dance too!

My daad and step-mom got married in their backyard, a large yard, in town. They were married under an arch decorated with tull and faux flowers. The bride (my step-mom) made her entrance from the back door, down the deck and to my dad. They had tents set up taht they had rented to put the cake and gifts under. They put the food inside in the kitchen, coolers with drinks: kids drinks, pop, beer on the deck. There was flower pots decorating the deck. They had a stereo set up on the deck for entertainment and music for the wedding itself. They danced in the yard, behind the guest chairs. It looked quite elegant and personal. Everyone could see they had a loving home. On the side yard, there was a volleyball net set up, horseshoes on the otherside. Clear christmas lights were lining the deck and house for evening dancing. And yes, it was hot. Their attentdents wore summer-time outfits. Dressy shorts and blouses for the women, suits with no jacket for the men. It wasn`t too expensive or overdone but still lovley just the same.
