Unique Favor Ideas Needed!!!

I have not decided on any favors yet for my June `04 wedding. I am doing many things differently in my wedding, so I don`t want anything too traditional for favors, and I want it to be inexpensive if at all possible. I will have about 300 guests. My goal is to find something memorable, but something that is worth spending $300+ for, and not something that guests will throw away after the night is over. My original idea was to use individual cakes to serve as favors as well (even though guests would eat them!), but it is very time consuming and I don`t want the lady who is making my cake have to do that. Does anyone else have any other ideas? Thanks!!
