Not Your Normal Reception

We are having a very small wedding (35 guests) and we are having the reception at my f/h`s daughter`s house. We are having a catered hot meal, but no DJ. The thing I would like feed back on is the reception is going to be more like a family gathering. We plan to play cd`s but mostly for background music, no dancing (not enough room). I really did not want to do a fromal seating thing, just something casual and intimate.
What do you think about doing it this way? Thanks for any advise.
