Receptions....do We Have To Dance???
My fiance and I are getting married in 4 months. We are on a limited budget, so we decided to have our wedding at a local park. I am having to buy my bridesmaids dresses (they`re my daughters) and my dress, along with most everything else. I have a very limited family so they`re not able to help much in the way of money. My fiance is limited in cash as he`s starting a new business. The reception will also be held at the park, and I`m thinking of finger foods, cake, and drinks (non-alcoholic due to park regulations). I would really love to have dancing, and I could afford a DJ, but can`t really afford to rent a dancefloor, and the terrain is grass...any suggestions?

Have you thought of renting a hall? Many halls can be rented for less than $500.

Could you buy some plywood to lie down and paint it?
Have you checked with party rental places to see if they have flooring available to use at a low cost?

Hello,
Since you are at the park aready, could you get your area close to a basketball court or have the use of a shelter area? That way you could have your dance and not have to get anything extra..:) Also check with your DJ to see if they can help get you the flooring if you have to have it in the grass area.
Hope this helps and Congratz,
Ang

Another thing to concider is *noise*. Many parks will not allow bands or and organized party. It would be something to ask about. It would be bad if you hired a DJ and then you were told that you could not have him on your wedding day.

Dancing on grass is not easy or pleasant. It`s challenging and very hard on the feet. It`s also dangerous, especially for women in heels. A broken shoe heel isn`t fun, but even worse is a broken ankle.

Dancing on the grass is not dangerous. The same things could happen on a dance floor. Also, how is hard on the feet by dancing on grass vs. Dancing on a hard wood floor?

Linda is right, it is dangerous. Yeah accidents could happen on hard wood floors but they are much more likely to happen on a grass surface. No it`s not at all fun to dance on grass. If you`ve never tried it then you don`t know. It sounds like it would be soft and easy on the feet but it isn`t! If we`re talking about a couple of slow dances then okay. But anything more than that I would not do it.
