Host/Hostess
I was just curious what exactly does the host/hostess do.

Extend the invitation.
Greet all the guests.
Make sure guests are comfortable and taken care of.
Perhaps at some point stand up and thank all the guests for coming and a toast to the couple if they choose.
Just be hospitable and gracious
All the same things that YOU would do if you were hosting a party.

By the way, when I said "greet the guests", I meant individually. In other words, making the rounds to personally greet each person.

Hey ... Nice name ... Same as me, don`t see that too often.
And the Host/Hostess does everything for you {and new husband}. You give them a list and they delegate duties & take care of any problem on your behalf.
Have a good one, Belle!

I`ve never heard of the hosts doing "everything for you and your new husband" What do you mean by this?

Hello,
What I mean by "everything" is any thing that you feel and agree they are capable of doing. Sit down and have a little chat and make a list of duties.

The bride and groom don`t delegate duties to the hosts. The hosts can delegate any duties to the paid help though if they want. The only "duties" of the hosts are to:
Extend the invitation.
Greet all the guests/make the rounds.
Make sure guests are comfortable and taken care of.
Perhaps at some point stand up and thank all the guests for coming and a toast to the couple if they choose.
Be hospitable and gracious.
If the bride and groom extended the invitation themselves, then they are the hosts.
